In today’s reading from Bob Hoeksra, we are reminded that the greatness of grace is found not in a principle but in a Person—Jesus, our eternal High Priest. The old covenant, with its temporary priests from the line of Aaron, could never bring perfection. These priests were mortal, limited, and symbolic of the One to come. Their ministry ended in death. But Christ’s priesthood is eternal—anchored not in the law or lineage, but in the power of His endless life.
Jesus belongs to a different priesthood: not of Aaron, but of Melchizedek, the mysterious priest-king who blessed Abraham with bread and wine. Like Melchizedek, Jesus has no beginning or end. His priesthood isn’t handed down—it is unchangeable. He is the guarantee of a better covenant. He offered Himself once for all and now lives forever, not merely as Savior who died for us, but as Intercessor who lives for us.
This means the work of grace didn’t stop at the cross. It continues in the heavenly places, where Jesus is actively interceding for us. His prayers are not reactive—they are redemptive. He is able to save completely because He lives continually. There is no need to seek another source of assurance, forgiveness, or strength. The better covenant has already been sealed—with blood, yes—but now upheld by a resurrected life that can never fail.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I have not left you to carry out your salvation alone. The One who bore your sins now bears your name before the Father—unceasingly. His prayers for you are not echoes from the past but intercessions of the present, alive with My eternal power.
There was a time when the priests came and went, but now the final Priest has come, and He remains forever. His life is the surety of the covenant I have written on your heart. You are no longer under a system of commandments that could never make you whole. You are under grace, upheld by a High Priest who never slumbers, never grows weary, and never ceases to speak on your behalf.
When the accuser rises, your Intercessor stands. When shame whispers, My Son answers. He intercedes not with pleas, but with presence—wounded hands raised in victory, declaring that you are Mine. Nothing can separate you from My love because your life is hidden with Christ in Me.
Come to Me freely, for you do not approach a distant God but a faithful High Priest who knows your frame and knows your name. He is able to save you to the uttermost—not partially, not temporarily, but entirely—because He always lives to carry you in His prayers.

🥣 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like setting a slow cooker in the morning—you prepare the meal, close the lid, and trust that it will be done. You don’t keep opening it or worrying over it. You trust the heat to do its work over time. Jesus, your High Priest, is always “on,” continually interceding, transforming, completing the work in you—even when you’re unaware.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, I rest today in the eternal priesthood of Jesus. Thank You that I don’t need to seek assurance from effort, nor do I need to fear falling short. My Savior lives—always. And because He intercedes for me without ceasing, I am secure. I rejoice in this better covenant, sealed by His blood and upheld by His unending life. I trust that what You have begun in me will be carried through to completion in Him.
