The Secret Inside the Wrapping
God’s most precious gifts often come in plain wrapping—look deeper, and you’ll see His covenant grace inside.

Today’s reflection from A.B. Simpson reminds me that God’s gifts don’t always arrive in attractive packaging. Some of the most treasured blessings in our lives come wrapped in confusion, hardship, or even suffering. Like the wilderness tabernacle—plain on the outside, but holding holy treasures within—God often hides His richest work beneath layers that seem unimpressive or even troubling at first glance.
Faith learns to say, “There’s more going on here than I can see.” The eye of flesh may only see roughness, but the heart of faith trusts that the hidden things of God are good. He is not careless with His children. Even when life seems hard or circumstances appear senseless, there is wisdom woven beneath the surface. We’re invited to receive what He gives without recoiling from the appearance, confident that He has wrapped mercy in mystery.
We miss so much when we judge by sight. But to those who reverently trust Him, God reveals His covenant—not just in words, but in how He moves in our story. He whispers secrets to those willing to look past the animal skin covering, into the holy dwelling place of His purposes.
📖 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, I do not conceal things to confuse you; I conceal treasures for those who will trust Me enough to look deeper. I have invited you into covenant relationship, not a transactional faith but a shared life, where My thoughts become your thoughts and My ways shape your path.
You see roughness and call it trouble. I see refinement and call it treasure. You may view the exterior of your circumstances as bleak, but I dwell in the center, radiating light through even the darkest providence. Trust Me with the wrapping, for I know what I’ve enclosed.
In the wilderness, I covered the sacred things to protect them—not to hide them forever, but to invite reverent pursuit. I am doing the same in your life. My goodness is not always on the surface. Sometimes, it is tucked beneath layers of discomfort and waiting. But you are not left to guess—I’ve given you My Spirit to discern what others overlook.
I confide in those who fear Me—not with trembling fear, but with hearts that bow in trust. I unfold My purposes like a scroll in the hands of those who wait on Me. Keep looking deeper. Receive what I send. Even the rough places carry My covenant grace.

🪵 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like unwrapping a package delivered in plain brown paper, dented and dusty from the journey. At first, it looks like junk mail—easy to toss aside. But when you open it, inside is a hand-written letter and a priceless heirloom from someone who loves you. You would have missed the treasure if you judged it by its cover.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, I trust that Your gifts are always good—even when they come in wrinkled wrapping. I rejoice that nothing reaches me without first passing through Your love. You’ve given me the eyes of faith to see beyond the surface. Thank You that every dark thread You weave holds the gleam of glory. You confide in me, and I treasure Your voice. I rest today in the covenant You’ve revealed, confident that what You send is precious—even if it doesn’t look that way at first.
