You Are My God, Right Here

A small light guiding steady steps, a picture of saying, You are my God, right here.

David teaches me something simple and steady. Surrounded by slander and fear on every side, he kept saying to the Lord, You are my God. Bob Hoekstra points out that David’s confession did not rise from a calm season. It rose in the middle of pressure. The man had enemies, plots, and family heartbreak. Yet his mouth kept agreeing with God’s faithfulness.

I need that kind of honesty. Life can stack up fast. Emails, bills, misunderstandings, and the ache of things not fixed, and fear starts to talk. David did not pretend the pressure was small. He named it. Then he looked higher and spoke from trust. You are my God. Not a slogan, a settled center.

Hoekstra’s reminder is kind. Living by grace looks like depending on the Lord to work His ways in and through ordinary days. It is not a performance. It is a posture. When I say, You are my God, I am not denying the hard things. I am locating my heart in the One who carries me.

So here is the invitation for today. Bring the real situation into the presence of Jesus. Say the quiet words that re-center the heart. You are my God. Watch how fear loosens when the gaze shifts from the swirl to the Lord who stays.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I hear your trouble. I know the slander that stings and the fear that presses from many sides. I steady you as you trust in Me. Say with David, You are my God. I am your refuge and strength. I am with you. I help you. I uphold you with My righteous right hand.

You are united with Christ. You have been crucified with Him. You live, yet not you, but Christ lives in you. Your old self died with Him. You now walk in newness of life. Set your mind on things above. Cast your cares on Me. My peace will guard your heart and mind in Jesus.

I teach your hands to serve and your mouth to answer with gentleness and truth. I lift your head. I surround you as a shield. I deliver you from the fear that paralyzes. I am your light and your salvation. Wait for Me with courage. I will strengthen your heart.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of turning on your phone’s flashlight to walk down a dark hallway at night. The furniture has not moved, but the light changes everything. You stop bumping into things. Confidence returns, step by step. Trusting the indwelling Spirit of Jesus works like that. He shines inside as we yield. Not by forcing ourselves to be brave, but by letting His life steady our steps.

Try this today. Before you answer a tense message or step into a difficult conversation, pause for a few seconds and whisper, Lord, I trust You to be my light and steadiness as You live through me right now. Then reply with a calm tone, honest words, and patient pace, expecting Him to supply what is needed.

Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that You are my God in this very place. Thank You that I am in Jesus, and that His life is in me. Thank You for peace that guards, courage that comes from You, and wisdom that is already mine in Your Son. I receive this day as a gift. I rest in Your keeping and Your care. Lord, I trust You to express Your life in me as I face whatever comes.
