True Healing

True healing goes deeper than the surface—God restores from the inside out.

Acts 5:12–14 recounts a surge of miraculous healings and signs performed through the apostles. This extraordinary manifestation of divine power drew awe and reverence, resulting in more men and women believing in the Lord and being added to the church. The scene recalls the days of Jesus’ earthly ministry, but as Ray Stedman’s devotional rightly clarifies, these miracles were specific to the apostles—affirming their foundational role in the early church.

Luke’s account in Acts highlights that these were not everyday occurrences among all believers, but unique signs of apostolic authority (as Paul defends in 2 Corinthians 12:12). The purpose was not merely to dazzle with miracles but to point toward a deeper reality: the true healing God offers is spiritual, not merely physical. Every physically healed person eventually died, but those healed in spirit—those made whole from the inside out—received a lasting transformation.

This devotional lovingly reminds us that God still heals physically according to His will, but His greatest work is the restoration of broken spirits. When the spiritual sickness of humanity is touched by the eternal balm of Christ, that is where true wholeness begins. And when that happens, people don’t just join a church gathering—they are added to the Body of Christ, forever changed.

Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit

I have never stopped healing. But My focus has always been greater than what fades with time. When I heal the body, it is a mercy. When I heal the spirit, it is a miracle that echoes into eternity.

You live in a world that aches for quick fixes—aches in the body, stress in the mind, and longing in the heart. Yet I whisper into the depths where no medicine reaches, where no human voice can counsel away the emptiness. My healing goes deeper.

When I touched the lame and blind in the days of the apostles, it was not just to ease suffering. It was a sign—a pointer—to something far more enduring. It was a picture of what I long to do in every soul: to restore what sin has shattered, to bring life where death once reigned, to make whole what was broken by darkness.

Your spirit, united with Mine, is already whole. The moment you believed, I made you a new creation. Old things passed away. My healing touched your spirit with permanence. Even now, I am renewing your mind, setting you free from the lies that once shaped you. You are not just being helped; you are being transformed.

Let the world chase temporary relief. But you, child, drink deeply of My life within you. Let Me bring healing where no eye can see, and peace where chaos used to dwell. The deeper healing has already begun. Trust that it is enough.

Real-Life Analogy

It’s like the difference between a fresh coat of paint and repairing a crumbling foundation. You can repaint a wall, and for a while it looks clean and new. But if the cracks beneath aren’t addressed, the paint won’t hold. God’s healing isn’t a surface-level touch-up—it’s a restoration from the inside out, securing the whole structure of your life in Christ.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I rest in the healing You have already accomplished within me. My spirit is whole because You made me new in Christ. I rejoice in knowing that Your deepest work in me is eternal, not temporary. Thank You that even as my body may grow weak, the life within me is indestructible and secure. I trust You for every part of me—body, soul, and spirit—but I praise You most for the restoration that began the moment I believed. Let Your healing continue to shape how I live, love, and trust You today.
