The Rest of the Oil
Even the long-forgotten places brighten when the light enters.

We often rejoice in what we’ve already received from God—salvation, peace, daily grace. But today’s reflection from A.B. Simpson challenges us to take a deeper inventory: are there places in our lives still unyielded, unoccupied by the presence of the Holy Spirit?
Simpson invites us to press beyond the joys we know and into the fullness that still awaits us. The spiritual life is not meant to be stagnant or partially filled. The Lord desires to anoint every corner of our being—body, soul, and spirit—with His oil. His calling is not only heavenward, but inward. There are still territories within our minds, emotions, physical health, finances, and relationships that He desires to possess with His peace, His order, and His divine presence.
This is not a message of striving for more, but of opening more—of letting the King reign in every room of the house. Have we experienced His promises in all their breadth? Are there areas where we’ve assumed lack, when in reality, we have yet to yield them for heaven’s abundance?
The call is not one of burden, but of invitation: Come and receive the rest of the oil.
🕊 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit
My child, I have given you all things in Christ—every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Yet I gently knock at doors within your heart, waiting to be invited into deeper places. You are not lacking Me, but I long to fill what has not yet been fully yielded.
There is more of My peace for your anxious thoughts. There is more of My clarity where confusion lingers. There is more of My grace in your bodily weariness, more of My joy in places you’ve allowed resignation to settle.
Let Me walk through the hidden corridors of your life. Let Me bring light where habits remain untouched by truth, where dreams have not been entrusted to My care. You are not incomplete, but you have not yet drawn deeply from all that is already yours.
The oil has not run dry—it waits to be poured. My anointing rests on your spirit, but it also flows into your body, your calendar, your decisions, your finances. Do not assume I dwell only in the sacred spaces. I desire to reign in every room.
Open the unopened. I will fill it.

🔑 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like discovering forgotten drawers in your own home—ones you haven’t opened in years. Some hold clutter, others hold potential, and a few are simply empty. You never meant to keep them shut; you just never thought to use them. But when you open them and let in the light, you find there’s space—space for beauty, order, and purpose you didn’t know you had. That’s what happens when we allow the Lord to occupy places in our life we’ve long ignored. The light doesn’t accuse. It transforms.
🙏 Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that there is no shortage in Your provision—only unclaimed places in my heart. You have already supplied the oil; You’ve already given Christ’s fullness. So I trust You now to fill the forgotten spaces, to bring the fragrance of Your presence into places I didn’t even know were waiting for You. I rejoice that You desire to reign not just in the sanctuary of my soul, but in the daily corners of my life. I open every drawer. I welcome You in.
