The Yes That Sets Me Free

The morning Yes of God—every promise fulfilled in Christ.

E. Stanley Jones dispels the myth that Christianity is a bleak denial of life—a grim list of rules and restrictions that suppress natural joy. He draws our attention to the radiant truth of 2 Corinthians 1:19–20: “In Him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him.”

Far from a “no” to life, Jesus is the ultimate Yes—the Yes to joy, growth, meaning, and purpose. Life outside of Him might indulge the senses for a moment, but it gradually leaves behind a trail of sadness and spiritual death. In contrast, every moment surrendered to Christ breathes with affirmation. When we think His thoughts, take on His attitudes, and walk in His steps, we feel the internal confirmation of life overflowing—resonating with joy and divine clarity.

Jones’s insight is simple yet striking: Christianity is not a system of constraint, but a Person of affirmation. Jesus is not the one who holds us back. He is the One who lifts us up and forward. In Him, the promises of God aren’t “maybe” or “if you’re good enough”—they are Yes. Settled. Secure.

✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am not the no in your life. I am your eternal Yes.
Yes to mercy. Yes to belonging. Yes to freedom.
Yes to joy that flows from deep within because it flows from Me.

When you believed in My Son, you stepped into the Yes of every promise I have ever made. I no longer dwell in the shadows of conditions or contingencies. In Him, all My promises are already fulfilled. You are not striving for peace—you have peace. You are not waiting for love—you are loved. You are not chasing significance—you are Mine.

The world will try to convince you that surrendering to Me means shutting down your humanity. But the opposite is true. Only in Me do you come fully alive. The enemy says no to joy, no to grace, no to rest—always demanding more. But I say yes to the Cross that already finished the work, yes to the Spirit who lives in you now, and yes to the life that overflows from abiding in Me.

So walk with Me—not to earn but to enjoy. Think My thoughts, and your mind will be renewed. Respond with My heart, and you will taste joy. Act from My indwelling life, and all creation will witness the Yes that is in you.

You are not defined by what you deny, but by Whom you have received. In Christ, you are the echo of My eternal Yes.

🍯 Real-Life Analogy

It’s like tasting a spoonful of honey after weeks of bland food. The sweetness doesn’t just satisfy—it reminds you that flavor still exists, that life can be delightful. In the same way, the moment you walk in Christ’s Spirit, everything begins to taste alive again. You remember what you were made for.

🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence

Father, thank You that in Christ, I never have to wonder if You’re holding back. Every promise is Yes in Him. I rejoice that I am no longer outside looking in—I am within the life of the Son, where all things are already mine. You have not called me to emptiness, but to fullness. Not to negation, but to delight in You. I trust Your indwelling Spirit to live Your Yes through me today.
