Stay on the Wall
Stay where God has placed you—His light will meet you there.

Today’s reflection from A.B. Simpson turns our attention to Nehemiah, who knew his calling was from God and refused to be distracted by fear, false urgency, or external demands. When opposition tried to pull him away from rebuilding the wall, he replied simply and firmly: “I am doing a great work and cannot come down.” His resolve reminds us that many things—even seemingly important ones—can quietly divert us from what God has placed in front of us.
Sometimes these diversions come in the form of anxieties or desperate attempts to force an outcome, even in areas like healing or provision. But when we fix our eyes on Christ and trust Him with the outcome, we learn to live free from the inner scramble to fix things. In that quiet steadiness, we often receive the deeper blessing God intended all along.
Sanballat’s persistent attempts to derail Nehemiah mirror the enemy’s schemes today. But faith learns to respond with calm refusal. “I will not come down.” Let fear wait on the sidelines. Let anxieties fall silent. When God has set you to a task, there is strength in staying the course without needing to answer every knock at the door of distraction.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
You are already doing a great work—because it is I who work in you, both to will and to do for My good pleasure. I have called you, set you in place, and I am building something through you that will last. You do not need to explain yourself to every voice that demands your attention. You need only abide.
Sanballat’s voice still echoes—voices of accusation, fear, urgency, and distraction—but I am your shield and your clarity. I have not given you a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Stand firm. You do not need to descend from the wall of obedience to silence every critic or calm every storm. Trust Me with the interruptions.
Even when sickness lingers or outcomes remain uncertain, know this: I do not withhold My love. What seems like delay is often My deeper invitation. I am forming something eternal in you, not just through your actions, but through your quiet trust. You are not called to control outcomes but to rest in Me as your life.
Stay where I’ve placed you. Keep your eyes on Me. Let My peace guard your heart and mind. My grace is not delayed—it is your present sufficiency.

🧱 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like waiting for bread to rise. You might be tempted to open the oven door too soon or adjust the recipe mid-process. But once the yeast is mixed in, the best thing you can do is leave it undisturbed. It rises on its own. Constant meddling only ruins the final result. In the same way, faith rests while God does the rising.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that I don’t have to leave the wall to respond to every distraction. You have placed me exactly where I need to be, and I trust You with the things that press for my attention. I rejoice that I can rest in Your presence, unmoved by fear or urgency. In Christ, I have all I need, and I remain confident that You are accomplishing what matters. I will stay with You in this moment, in this work, and in this peace.
