Riches Beyond Measure

The love of God stretches wider than the universe and deeper than the deepest abyss, yet fills the believer completely in Jesus.

E. Stanley Jones takes us deeper into Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3, where the apostle speaks of access to the immeasurable riches of God’s glory in Jesus. Paul describes these riches not in vague terms but in very specific ways that surpass human knowledge. We are not left to guess what this means, for the Holy Spirit spells it out through his prayer: being strengthened in the inner man, experiencing the indwelling Christ, being rooted in love, comprehending the boundless dimensions of His love, and being filled with the fullness of God.

Jones reminds us that access in Jesus is not theoretical, but intensely practical. To have Christ dwelling in our hearts through faith means that our daily lives become the place where divine love and power are revealed. The Spirit works redemptively within, applying what Jesus has already accomplished. Far from being an abstract spirituality, this is the personal presence of the living Christ within us. It is the Spirit with a face, making the knowledge of God real and tangible.

The richness of this access is expressed in love’s vastness. Paul’s words stretch human imagination: the breadth, length, height, and depth of God’s love is wider than the universe, deeper than any abyss, and higher than the very throne of God. Access to such love is not reserved for the few but shared with all the saints. This is fellowship, not isolation. It is life rooted in something eternal and unshakable.

Jones gently points out that all this access to God’s resources makes pale comparison to worldly attempts at self-sufficiency. Human resources run dry, but God’s riches cannot be exhausted. We are rich beyond calculation, not in possessions, but in the indwelling fullness of God. That is the unspeakable gift, the true wealth of every believer who lives in Jesus.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

My child, you are not poor or lacking. In My Son you have access to all the riches of My glory. You are strengthened in the inner man by My Spirit, not left to struggle alone. I dwell in your heart through faith, and My love is the root that anchors you.

Do not measure My love by human standards. Its width covers the universe, its depth reaches into the darkest abyss, its height soars to the throne of God, and its length spans eternity. This love surpasses knowledge, yet you are invited to know it, to taste it, and to live in it every day.

You are being filled with all the fullness of God. Not a portion, not a fragment, but fullness. My Spirit in you is proof that this is already your possession. You do not live out of scarcity but out of abundance. Yield to Me, and My fullness flows freely in you and through you, showing the world the riches of My grace in Jesus.

Real-Life Analogy

Imagine walking into a library with countless shelves, each filled with treasures of knowledge and beauty. You are told, “All of this is yours. Nothing is off-limits.” At first, you may timidly take a single book, thinking you must ration the gift. But the truth is, the shelves are inexhaustible, and you are invited to explore freely. That is what access to the riches of God is like.

Today, when I am tempted to think I am lacking, I can quietly yield and say, “Lord, I trust You to live Your life through me in this moment, drawing from the fullness that is already mine in You.” Scarcity is replaced with abundance, and limitation gives way to possibility.

Prayer of Confidence

Lord, I thank You that I have access to the immeasurable riches of Your glory in Jesus. I rejoice that I am strengthened in the inner man, rooted in love, and filled with all Your fullness. I rest in the truth that nothing is withheld, for every dimension of Your love and power is mine in union with Christ. I walk today as one who is rich beyond measure, not in myself, but in the endless supply of Your life in me.
