2 Corinthians 11:3 points to the simplicity that is in Jesus. Oswald Chambers puts a hand on our shoulder and reminds us that spiritual fog rarely lifts by overthinking. We do not logic our way out of a muddle. We walk our way out by simple trust and responsive obedience. He is not scolding. He is helping us find the path where the Lord’s life flows.
Some of us need that gentle nudge. We can chase clarity through more analysis, more notes, and another round of pros and cons. Chambers says, bring imagination under the obedience of Christ, then take the step the Holy Spirit has already made plain. When I do, the light comes on. Sight follows surrender.
He also points to childlike seeing. Jesus said the Father hides things from the self assured and reveals them to little ones. That lands close to home. When I posture as the expert, I get cotton wool thinking. When I come as a learner, I begin to see again. The Spirit’s guidance is not complicated. It is relational.
All of this fits our abiding life lens. We are not trying to obey our way into life. We have been united with Christ. From that union, obedience becomes trust in action. One small step at a time. Fog gives way to daylight.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I lead you in the simplicity that is in Christ. Bring your thoughts under the obedience of Jesus. Do not be hearers only who forget, but do what I have shown. You are raised with Christ, so set your mind on things above where He is seated. Your life is hidden with Him in God.
I remind you that you are crucified with Christ and you live, yet not you, but He lives in you. Reckon yourself dead to sin and alive to God. I guide you into all truth. I bring to remembrance what the Lord has said. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and acknowledge Him in all your ways, and I will make straight your paths.
When your mind feels tangled, take the step that is in front of you. I work in you both to will and to work for the Father’s good pleasure. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Walk by the Spirit. The path grows brighter as you move with Me.

Real-Life Analogy
Think about a foggy windshield. You can wipe it with your sleeve, but the haze comes right back. Tap the defogger, wait a moment, and the glass clears from the inside out. Simple action, clear view. This is how the indwelling Spirit of Jesus works in a muddled moment. Instead of scrubbing harder with more effort, we yield to His presence and take the next right step He shows. The fog thins as He expresses His life through us.
Try this today. When a decision starts to feel tangled, pause for ten seconds. Offer the step you already know to take, even if it is small, and say, Lord, I trust You to clear my thinking as I act on what You have shown, and to live through me in this next conversation.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You for joining me to Jesus and for the simplicity that is in Him. Thank You that Your Spirit lives in me and leads me in plain paths. I receive this day as a gift. I bring my thoughts under the obedience of Christ. I rest in the clarity that comes as I take the step You have placed in front of me. Lord, I trust You to keep my steps simple and my heart steady as You work through me.
