Face Like Flint, Heart at Rest

A steady stride into the morning light, a quiet picture of setting the face like flint with Jesus in view.

Isaiah says, because the Lord God helps Me, I have not been disgraced. He sets His face like flint and knows He will not be put to shame. Today’s reading reminds me that our Savior walked this path first. He endured the cross because of joy set before Him. He trusted the Father through pain, and now reigns with every enemy under His feet. A. B. Simpson points us to Jesus as the pattern and the power for real life today.

Here is the comfort. We do not drum up courage by ourselves. We look at the One who has already overcome. His story steadies ours. The Lord Jesus set His face, and now He lives in us by the Spirit. That means courage is not a personality trick. It is the life of Jesus expressed in earthen vessels while we lean into Him.

Here is the invitation. Let your heart refuse the shame narratives that rise when days are hard. The Father helps you. Union with Christ is not theory. It is the reason you can take the next step with a quiet yes. Faith is not denying pain. Faith is looking where He is, and choosing from that place.

Here is the fruit. As we keep our eyes on Jesus, the Holy Spirit grows a settled boldness. Not loud. Not proud. Just steady. We start to move through ordinary pressures with a simple confidence. He has gone ahead of us, so we can follow without panic.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I lift your gaze to the Son who set His face like flint. He trusted the Father, endured the cross, and despised the shame because of the joy set before Him. He is seated at My right hand, and His enemies are becoming His footstool. You are joined to Him. You died with Christ and were raised to walk in newness of life. Your old man was crucified. Consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

I dwell in you. I strengthen you with resurrection power. I teach you to abide, to live from union, to overcome not by striving but by trusting. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Set your mind on the things above where He is. I supply peace. I make you more than a conqueror. I transform you from one degree of glory to another as you behold the Lord.

When fear presses, stand in grace. This victory is born of God, and it overcomes the world through faith. Take heart. He has overcome the world. I am with you. I will never leave you. Walk forward, and let His life be seen in your mortal body.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of a camera that needs a clear subject. When the lens locks on a face, the background blur stops competing and the picture sharpens. The Holy Spirit works like that in us. He brings Jesus into sharp focus, and the noise of lesser fears softens in the background.

Try this today. Before you enter a tough conversation, pause and settle your focus on the risen Lord. Say, Lord, I trust You to set my face where Yours is set, and to carry Your courage through me as I speak. Then step in expecting the Spirit of Jesus to give you calm tone, honest words, and patient ears.

Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that the Lord Jesus has gone ahead of me and now lives in me. Thank You that I share His life, that shame has no claim, and that Your help is present in this very hour. I receive this day as a place to walk steady and kind. My eyes are on Your Son. Lord, I trust You to express His courage and peace through me in each task and meeting.
