Hold Fast, Walk Forward by Faith

Confidence can slip through our fingers in a long season of waiting. Hebrews 10:35-39 calls us back from the edge. Do not toss away your confidence. You will need endurance. The promise stands, the Coming One will come. This passage steadies us in the simple, lived truth that the righteous live by faith.

Bob Hoekstra points our eyes to that thread running from Habakkuk through Romans and Galatians into Hebrews. Faith is not a moment, it is a way to live. It is how we take the next step when we cannot see the whole road. It is how we keep saying yes to Jesus in trials, work, service, and ordinary days.

This kind of living does something inside us. It grows endurance. It softens our reactions. It keeps us from drawing back when fatigue whispers that it would be easier to quit. Faith looks to Jesus, not to our stamina. Faith receives what grace supplies and finds strength arriving right on time.

And as faith endures, obedience follows. We discover that Jesus is not asking us to power the life He has already given. He invites us to trust Him as He works in us, and that trust builds assurance. He is coming soon. He keeps His word. We belong to those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Journal Entry - Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am the Spirit of the Living God. I stir your heart to hold confidence, for great reward rests with those who trust. I anchor you in the faith that the Righteous One authored and will finish. I place your gaze on Jesus, and as you look to Him you run with endurance the race set before you.

I remind you that you are united with Jesus, crucified with Him, raised to walk in newness of life. I dwell in you to will and to work for the Father’s good pleasure. I do not push you to strive in your own strength. I draw you to yield, to receive, to walk by faith and not by sight.

I keep you from drawing back. When weariness presses, I whisper that the promise stands. The Coming One will not delay beyond the Father’s perfect wisdom. I strengthen your steps so you continue in good works that were prepared beforehand, not as a means to earn favor, but as the fruit of the life of Jesus in you.

I assure you that you are a partaker of Jesus. Hold fast your confidence from the beginning to the end. The faith you live by is not self manufactured. It is the gift planted in you, nourished by grace, and expressed as you set your heart on Jesus who loved you and gave Himself for you.

Real-Life Analogy

Think of setting a thermostat on a winter morning. You choose the temperature, then the system goes to work, quietly bringing the room to what you set. You do not stand there trying to warm the house with your own breath or by tensing your muscles. You trust the provision already installed to do its job.

In the same way, by faith you yield to the indwelling Spirit of Jesus. You consent to His presence and purpose, then He acts within you. Today, when a draining task shows up at 4 p.m., instead of white-knuckling your way through it, set your heart on Him. You might say, Lord, I entrust this hour to You. Live Your life through me as I finish this work with honesty and quiet joy. Watch how He supplies steadiness, clears your words, and guides your next right step.

Prayer of Confidence

Lord, thank You that my confidence rests in Jesus, not in my performance. Thank You for the endurance You supply as I look to Him. Thank You that I am crucified with Jesus, raised with Him, and indwelt by Your Spirit. I affirm that Your promises stand and that You are faithful to complete what You began in me. I welcome Your working in and through me today, and I rejoice that the Coming One will come. Amen.
