Eyes On The Unseen, Steps On The Solid

Enough light for the next step.

We walk by faith, not by sight. That is more than a slogan. It is how Jesus carries us from where we are to where He is leading, one step, one quiet yes, at a time. The visible world hums with data and demands, and yet the truest things are often hidden at first glance. Faith learns to lean into what God has said, and into who God is, even when our eyes cannot map the path.

Bob Hoekstra’s reflection reminds me that the natural way is to be ruled by what we can measure. Screens, schedules, and the swirl of circumstances set the pace. But the way of Jesus is different. He invites us to trust His word, depend on His Spirit, and let grace do what effort never can. Faith is not pretending. Faith is receiving what God has promised and stepping on it like bedrock.

Scripture shows this pattern across the story of God. What looked like loss became saving wisdom. What sounded like a dead end opened into a rescue. The cross looked like defeat. It was the triumph of the Son of God. Faith does not deny what is seen. Faith looks through it, and then rests in the Lord who speaks a better word.

So today, friend, we walk together. Not as experts, but as fellow travelers who know where the bread is found. We look to Jesus, we listen to the Spirit, and we take the next step He sets before us. He is faithful. He will not fail you.

Journal Entry - Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am with you, and I am in you. Walk in Me as you received the Lord Jesus, with open hands and a trusting heart. Let your steps agree with the truth that you have been made new in Him. Do not fix your gaze on what fades. Set your eyes on what is eternal, and I will steady your feet on today’s path.

When the seen world shouts, incline your ear to My word. I guide you into all truth. I remind you of all that Jesus has said. My witness in you is sure, and I delight to lead you as a child who places a small hand in a strong one. Trust Me with all your heart, and I will make your paths straight.

You were buried with Jesus and raised to walk in newness of life. Christ lives in you, so your life is not sourced in self. I lead you as a son or daughter who is led by God. When you cannot trace the turn ahead, lean on the light you have. My word is a lamp for your feet. Take the step it gives.

You are being renewed day by day. Do not size today by weight of trouble or the glare of the immediate. Weigh it by the glory that is working for you. Though you do not see Jesus, you love Him. Though you do not see Him now, you rejoice with joy that runs deeper than circumstance. Lift the eyes of your heart. I enlighten them to know the hope to which He has called you.

In the wind and waves, I call your name. Do not be afraid. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. What I begin in you, I bring to completion. Take courage. Step forward. I am faithful, and I will do it.

Real-Life Analogy

Think of driving in thick morning fog. The horizon disappears, and long views are gone. Headlights do not clear the haze, but they give enough road to move safely. Walking by faith is like that. The Holy Spirit within does not always show you the whole highway. He gives you the next few clear lines, enough to proceed without panic, enough to keep you aligned with Jesus rather than the swirl of what you cannot see.

A simple practice for today. When an email, a diagnosis, or a bill lands with a thud, do not rush to manage the whole outcome. Speak quietly from your seat at His table, Lord, I trust You to act through me in this moment. Lead my next step, and I will follow. Then take one concrete action that aligns with Scripture and integrity. Send the honest reply. Make the needed call. Rest the result with Him who lives in you.

Prayer of Confidence

Lord, thank You that in Jesus I already have a firm place to stand. Thank You that Your Spirit lives in me, guiding my steps in truth. I affirm that I am a new creation in Christ, raised to walk in newness of life. I receive Your peace for this day. I agree with Your word instead of the noise of the moment. My eyes are on the unseen, my steps are on the solid, and my heart rests in Your faithful love. Amen.
