“Our Father in the heavens” begins with a family word, not a formula. Today’s reading from Witness Lee reminds me that the first three petitions of the Lord’s Prayer turn my attention to the Father’s name set apart, the Son’s kingdom, and the Spirit’s will shaping life on earth as it is in heaven. I am grateful for how Lee points us to this upward posture, then brings it right down into daily steps.
“Hallowed be Your name” is not just a line we recite. It is the Holy Spirit teaching our hearts to treat the Father’s name as holy in what we say, choose, and value. “Your kingdom come” lifts our eyes to Jesus and His reign, not as a faraway idea, but as a present reality growing in and through His people. “Your will be done” becomes more than a wish, it is a yielded life that moves with the Holy Spirit’s leading.
This prayer is family-shaped. It begins with “Our,” reminding us that we belong to a people. As the church treasures the Father’s name, seeks the Son’s reign, and yields to the Spirit’s will, the world gets a living preview of the day when the kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.
So I slow down and let this simple prayer reset my center. I call God Father with reverence. I welcome the rule of Jesus in the details. I present my day to the Spirit who loves to make heaven’s desires take root in ordinary places.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I turn your heart to the Father in the heavens and set His name apart in your words and ways. I draw your gaze to the kingdom of His beloved Son and steady your steps so that His will is done on earth in your path as it is in heaven. I keep His name excellent in all the earth as I sanctify it among My people. The kingdom advances, and the day draws near when every realm will be openly under the Lord and His Christ.
List your cares before Me and stay attentive. I write reverence on your tongue, I shape allegiance in your desires, I form obedience in your choices. Pray as a son or daughter among brothers and sisters. Seek the things above. Let your yes be simple and your walk be clean. I am faithful to complete what I began, and I delight to make the Father’s name honored, the Son’s reign welcomed, and the will of God embodied in your day.

Real-Life Analogy
When I bake a loaf, I preheat the oven before I slide in the dough. The heat sets the shape and brings the rise to completion. Setting apart the Father’s name is like that preheat. As I honor Him first, the indwelling Spirit brings warmth to every part of the day, and what seemed flat begins to rise.
Try this. Before you answer a tense message or step into a meeting, pause and look to the Father. Quietly welcome the reign of Jesus over that moment. Yield your response to the Spirit. Whisper, Lord, I trust You to live Your life in me and through me in this moment. Then reply with patience, truth, and a steady tone that matches heaven’s priorities. Let Him speak through you, in that moment.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that Your name is holy and set apart. Thank You that the kingdom of Your Son is present and powerful, and that Your will is being done on earth through Your Spirit at work in Your people. I receive this day as a place for Your honor, Your reign, and Your purpose to be seen. Lord, I trust You to live Your life in me and through me in this moment.
