Fixed Position
When we stand in the right position, the way opens—just like our fixed place in Christ opens the way to daily life and peace.

Today’s reflection by Miles Stanford invites us to reject the instability of chasing spiritual highs and to instead remain fixed in our position in Christ. The core message is that the victorious Christian life is not an experience, nor is it defined by an emotional breakthrough or isolated crisis of surrender. Rather, it is a Person—Jesus Himself—living His life in and through us moment by moment.
While there may be significant turning points in our spiritual walk—moments of surrender, revelation, or spiritual awakening—these events are never meant to become the foundation of our daily life. If we lean on past experiences instead of Christ, we risk drifting into emotionalism or legalism, losing the peace and power that come from simply abiding in Him.
Our calling, as Jesus Himself stated in Luke 9:23, is to deny the independent self, take up the cross daily, and follow Him—not by self-effort, but by reckoning ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. This “daily dying” is not morbid or mechanical; it is the beautiful rhythm of letting go of self-rule and resting in His rule. R.W. reminds us that holiness is not a level to attain but a relationship to remain in.
The stability of the Christian life doesn’t come from what we feel or achieve. It comes from our fixed position—rooted, secure, and unchanging in Christ Himself.
Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
Remain in Me, for I have placed you in Myself and seated you with Me in heavenly places. You have died, and your life is hidden with Me in God. The life you now live, you live by faith in the Son of God who loved you and gave Himself for you.
Do not be moved from the hope of the gospel. I have not called you to chase feelings or to anchor yourself in past experiences. I have called you to abide—moment by moment—to present yourself to Me as one alive from the dead and to rest in the fact that I live in you.
Let your mind be renewed, not by memories of yesterday’s mountaintops, but by the truth of who you are in Me today. I am your victory. I am your sanctification. I am your peace. You no longer live, but I live in you. So stand firm. Be immovable. Let your heart be established by grace.

Real-Life Analogy
You’ve probably walked through an automatic sliding door. It opens when you’re aligned correctly in front of it—but if you stand just a few feet to the side, it won’t budge. In the same way, life in Christ doesn’t open up through emotion or movement alone. It opens by standing in the right place: our fixed position in Him. When we stand where we’ve already been placed—in Christ—the way forward opens every time, even if we don't see it immediately. But step out of that position and start relying on self, and the path closes.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, I thank You that I no longer have to chase spiritual experiences to feel close to You. You have placed me in Christ, and in Him I remain—secure, alive, and at peace. I rest today in the truth that my position is fixed, not by my striving but by Your finished work. I trust Your Spirit within me to lead, to guide, and to express the life of Christ through me. I am not moved by feelings or appearances, but by the truth that You dwell in me and I in You.
