Sometimes what is most glorious is wrapped in what seems most ordinary. Today’s devotional from Witness Lee continues to reflect on Philip’s encounter with Jesus and his invitation to Nathanael: “Come and see.” At first, Nathanael’s response was dismissive. Nazareth was a place of little esteem—certainly no breeding ground for the Messiah. But Jesus wasn’t concerned with outward appearance or public opinion. He came quietly, cloaked in humility, carrying the fullness of God in the form of a Nazarene.
The devotional reminds us that even now, Christ and His Body often appear unassuming. The outward may look common, but the inward is filled with divine glory. We are warned not to judge based on what impresses the eye—grand cathedrals, ornate rituals, or impressive ministries—but to look for the reality of Christ within. He is often found in the most unexpected places, and His true presence is only discerned by those who come and see with spiritual eyes.

I did not come to dazzle you. I came to dwell with you. I did not arrive in royal robes, but in a carpenter’s home, born in a manger, raised in a town others despised. I came hidden, that only those who hungered would find Me.
Nathanael questioned Me because I did not fit the image he expected. But when he came close, he saw what flesh and blood could never reveal. I knew him before he spoke, and I know you too. I see beyond your assumptions, your disappointments, your reasoning. I look at the heart—and I long for yours to draw near.
Stop searching for Me in impressive exteriors. I am not defined by a building’s grandeur, a person's credentials, or a ministry’s reputation. I am found in those who humble themselves and come with open hearts. I dwell in the simple, the quiet, the yielded. Look again—I may appear as just a Nazarene, but in Me is the fullness of God.
You no longer see Me according to the flesh. You know Me by My Spirit. The same Spirit bears witness in you now. Come—abide in Me, not in opinions or appearances. Come and see.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like finding a priceless ring tucked inside a plain paper box. If you judged the box by its worn edges or its lack of shine, you’d miss the treasure inside. But those who take time to open it discover something worth everything.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Jesus, I thank You that You are never confined to appearances. You came to me not with fanfare, but in love. You opened my eyes to Your glory through simple moments and unexpected places. I trust You to reveal Yourself as You are—not as I imagine. I rest today knowing You dwell in me, not because I appear strong or wise, but because You chose what is lowly to reveal what is glorious. I delight to come and see—again and again.
