Written Into Everything
Purpose shows when the light shines through, made through Him and for Him.

Paul’s words in Colossians sound like bedrock. Jesus is the image of the invisible God, and in Him all things were created, through Him and for Him. E. Stanley Jones asks us to stop treating that as a flourish. If we were made through Him and for Him, then meaning is not something we invent. It is Someone we know.
Jones presses a few kind questions. Do things work best when they move in His way. Do people discover freedom when they live for His will. He answers yes, not as a slogan, but as a steady observation of life. When we work against Jesus, we work against ourselves. When we walk with Him, even ordinary tasks begin to hum with rightness.
This is not a push into legalism. The discovery is relational. If all things hold together in Christ, then my day holds together as I live in union with Him. The point is not to become impressive. The point is to become aligned. In alignment, there is peace, fruit, and the simple joy of doing what we were made to do.
As a fellow traveler, I am thankful for Jones’s reminder. Purpose is not far away. It is not fragile. In Jesus, the Maker lives with us and in us. He is not only the goal of creation. He is the life within the believer, shaping our motives and our steps so that our work, our words, and our worship echo the way things were designed.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I formed all things through My Son, and in Him all things hold together. I created you for My glory, and I called you into union with Jesus so that you would live through Him. In Christ you are a new creation. Old things have passed away. I placed you in Him so that the life you now live is by faith in the Son of God. Present your body to Me as a living sacrifice, and be renewed in your mind. I work in you to will and to work for My good pleasure. Whatever you do, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father. You are My workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that I prepared beforehand, that you should walk in them. In Him you are complete. Abide in Him, and you will bear much fruit, for apart from Him you can do nothing. From Him and through Him and to Him are all things. Walk in the light of this truth, and your steps will agree with your design.
Real-Life Analogy
Hold a sheet of fine stationery up to the light and a watermark appears. You may not notice it at first, yet it is woven into the paper. Try to erase it with an eraser or a marker and it remains. In a similar way, the purpose of Jesus is woven into our days. When we ignore that design, life smudges. When we align with Him, things ring true.
A practice for today. When you start a task that matters, quietly say, Lord, I consent to Your purpose in this work, let Your life move through my hands and words. Then draft the email with honesty, fix the hinge with care, or plan the meeting with fairness. Trust the Holy Spirit to carry the tone, pace, and outcome that fit how you were made.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that I was created through Jesus and for Jesus. Thank You that in Him all things hold together, including my hours today. I agree with You that purpose is not something I must manufacture. It is Your gift in union with Your Son. I receive the grace to walk in what You prepared beforehand. I thank You that Your Spirit within me supplies desire and action that match Your will. I step forward restful, grateful, and confident that my life will echo the design of my Maker.
