With Me In Trouble, Then Deliverance
While the dough rests, unseen work transforms it, just as the Spirit forms calm within us.

Trouble often raises a fair question in our hearts, why did rescue not arrive sooner. A. B. Simpson reminds us that our Father is not indifferent, He is intentional. He stays with us inside the difficulty, shaping us to rest in Him, then at the right time He brings us out. His promise is steady, I am with you in trouble. I will deliver you, and I will honor you.
That nearness is not a thin comfort. It is the very presence of Jesus within, settling the storm before the storm is removed. Many of us have discovered that while we want escape first, the Lord often gives companionship first, calm second, and deliverance third. He orders the steps because He knows what our souls truly need.
Simpson also points out that hardships are not wasted time. In the Father’s hands they become classrooms of trust, places where our nervous self-effort is replaced by a quiet confidence in the indwelling Spirit. The lesson is not that we must get stronger, the lesson is that Jesus is our life, and He is enough within us.
When the work of that season is complete, the Lord says, it is enough. Then deliverance comes with dignity. Not as a scramble, but as an honor He places on those who have learned to lean. I am grateful for Simpson’s gentle nudge today. He helps us see that God’s timing is not delay, it is love at work inside the moment.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am with you in the trouble, not after it. I steady your heart while the waves still rise. I draw near so you learn to rest in My love, and you discover that peace is not the absence of storms, peace is My presence filling you. I have joined you to Jesus, and His life in you is your calm.
Do not measure My care by how quickly the circumstance shifts. I am forming your patience, your endurance, and your hope. These are not burdens laid on you, they are the fruit of My life in you. I turn what the enemy intended for harm into good, and I use pressure to reveal where you are still carrying the weight alone so that you release it to Me.
Lift your eyes. You are not forsaken. You are a new creation, united with My Son. Your trials are light and momentary compared to the glory I am working in you. When you cannot see the path forward, I am your path. When you feel the heat, you will not be consumed. When you pass through deep waters, you will not be overwhelmed. I keep you.
In due season, I speak, it is enough. I bring you out with honor. I do not waste your tears. I weave them into patience, character, and a hope that does not put you to shame because My love has been poured into your heart. Keep company with Me. Let your requests be made known with thanksgiving, and My peace will guard you as surely as walls guard a city.
Real-Life Analogy
Think of dough resting on a kitchen counter. You do not pry it apart or pull it to force it to rise. You cover it, you wait, and the yeast quietly does what it does. The warmth of the room and the unseen process change the dough from the inside. If you rush it, the loaf is dense. If you trust the process, the bread is tender and strong.
In the same way, the Holy Spirit within is doing His faithful work while you remain yielded. You are not managing yourself with rules, you are letting Jesus express His patience and steadiness through you. For example, if an email lands that normally spikes your anxiety, choose to lean your weight on Him before you begin typing. You might whisper, Lord, I rest in You right now, express Your calm clarity through me as I reply. Then answer simply, without drama, trusting that His life in you shapes both tone and timing.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that You are with me in the trouble, not just after it. Thank You that Jesus lives in me, and Your Spirit steadies my mind and heart. I agree with Your timing. I welcome Your peace to rule me as I wait. I receive the honor You place on those who trust You. Today I walk forward in quiet confidence, knowing that You finish what You begin and that Your deliverance arrives right on time.
