Why God Won’t Fit in Your Box
You don’t have to grasp the ocean to trust it surrounds you.

When I first encountered the truth of God's incomprehensibility, something in me shifted. I had spent so long trying to solve God—analyzing theology, chasing answers, pressing for clarity—yet never quite finding rest. Then I came to understand: God is not a puzzle to solve, but a Person to trust.
A.W. Tozer’s classic The Knowledge of the Holy helped me see that God’s infiniteness is not a barrier to relationship—it’s the foundation of trust. If I could fit Him into my mental framework, He’d be no greater than I am. But because He transcends it all—space, time, reason, and emotion—I can finally release the burden of understanding everything.
And Scripture confirms this again and again: His thoughts are higher (Isaiah 55), His wisdom unsearchable (Romans 11), His greatness beyond measure (Psalm 145). But here’s the best part: this same God invites me to draw near. Not to explain Him, but to worship Him. And in that worship, I find peace.
I don’t need answers—I need awe.
I don’t need to “figure Him out”—I need to trust that He already has it all held together.

I was never meant to fit inside your logic.
I am not confined by your categories or limited by your understanding.
I am the God who holds galaxies in place, yet I am near to you in your confusion.
You cannot measure Me—but you can trust Me.
The moment you stop striving to figure Me out is the moment worship begins.
I’m not asking for analysis. I’m inviting surrender.
My ways are higher than yours, and My thoughts—deeper than the sea.
Let that comfort you, not trouble you.
You may not know the answers, but you know Me.
And I will be faithful in every detail.
Let go of the box. Let go of the pressure to explain.
And look up—I have never failed, and I never will.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like trying to catch the ocean in a teacup.
You dip it in, expecting to grasp it all—and come away with only a drop. But the drop is real, and it’s enough to remind you: the ocean is vast, and it’s still there. You don’t need to contain it. You just need to step into it and let it surround you.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, I thank You that You are far greater than I can imagine.
I rejoice that You are not confined by my understanding—because I know I can trust You in what I do not see.
Your ways are perfect. Your wisdom is complete. Your faithfulness is eternal.
Today, I lay down the burden of needing answers. I lift my eyes in worship.
You are more than enough for me.
