When Weakness Makes Room For Power
Plugged into the true source, Jesus’ power perfect in my weakness.

Some days I feel small. Work stretches thin, relationships pull tight, and my own resources falter. This reading points me to a different way of seeing. The apostle Paul lifts my eyes from how strong I feel, to how present Jesus is. God’s power finds a fitting home where my strength runs out.
Nick Harrison’s collection gathers voices that remind us that divine power does not prop up the old patterns of the flesh. It replaces them. Edward Dennett and John Darby both steer us away from chasing a sensation of power. They point us to the lesson that the Lord’s strength is made perfect in weakness, never as an add-on to self-effort, but as the life of Jesus at work within.
That means my condition does not disqualify me. The pressure I feel can actually usher me into deeper dependence. If the door to a quick fix stays shut, I am not stuck. I am invited. The Lord meets me right where I am as the One who lives in me, and His grace is sufficient.
So I am learning to relax my grip. I am not chasing a mood, and I am not waiting for a surge. I am remembering who I am in Christ, and who He is in me. I am grateful for the voices in HVI that help me locate real freedom in the indwelling life of Jesus, not in the rise and fall of my own energy.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am with you. My grace is sufficient for you, and my power comes to its full expression where your strength fades. Do not seek the feeling of power. Seek me. You have been crucified with the Messiah, and the life you now live in the body you live by faith in the Son of God. Consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God.
I dwell in you. You are not sufficient in yourself, yet your sufficiency is from me. I work in you to will and to act. I strengthen you with power through my Spirit in your inner being, so that the life of Jesus may be seen in your mortal flesh. You carry this treasure in a jar of clay, so the surpassing greatness is clearly mine.
Abide in me. Set your mind on things above, where your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. Walk by the Spirit. Let your words, your choices, and your service be as one who serves by the strength that I supply, so that in everything Jesus is honored. When you feel weak, remember, I am your portion, and I am enough.
Real-Life Analogy
Picture a power strip on the floor. Several devices are plugged into it, but nothing turns on. The lamps stay dark, the charger stays cold. Then the strip’s main plug clicks into a live outlet, and quietly, everything receives what it needs. The devices do not strain. They simply draw from the source.
That is how the Holy Spirit works in us. He is the living connection, not a supplement to our effort. Today, when an email stings or a task feels too big, choose the posture of dependence. In your heart say, Lord, I trust you to express your wisdom and steadiness through me in this reply. Then write with honesty and kindness, not to win the moment, but to let Jesus show Himself through you.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank you that your grace is enough. Thank you that in my weakness your power rests on me. Thank you that I am united with Jesus, no longer measuring the day by my own capacity. I bless you that your Spirit lives in me, renewing my mind, shaping my words, and guiding my steps. I receive this day as your assignment and I walk in the strength that is already mine in the risen Christ. All glory to you.
