Today’s devotional from Witness Lee explores the power and clarity that comes from calling on the name of the Lord Jesus—not silently, but audibly and from the heart. The Greek term epikaleo implies crying out upon His name. This is not just internal belief, but vocal expression, deeply linked to the Spirit’s outpouring and God's intended response to the gospel. The idea here is simple but vital: vocalizing the name of Jesus brings tangible experience of salvation and joy.

The devotional contrasts a soft, passive whisper of belief with a strong, open-hearted cry. While God sees the heart regardless of volume, there’s something transformative about boldly calling out to Jesus as Lord and Savior. That vocal declaration—“Lord Jesus! I love You!”—shifts us from inner speculation to experiential salvation.

We’re reminded that this is not a formula, but a Spirit-drenched invitation. The more a soul calls on Christ with abandon, the more the reality of His indwelling presence becomes known. The call itself becomes a conduit for grace to be realized, for love to be returned, and for union to be embraced.

Calling on the name of the Lord is not a mere introduction to the Christian life; it is the atmosphere of it. It expresses trust, affection, surrender, and union—all in one phrase. “Lord Jesus”—two words that open the door to eternal life, not just once, but moment by moment.

📓 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture:
My beloved, My name is near you—in your mouth and in your heart. You have not been left to figure out how to reach Me. I came down. I dwelled among you. I now dwell within you. And My name is the name above all names—not a distant label, but an ever-present lifeline. When you call on Me, you are not summoning a stranger, you are embracing your closest companion.

There is no part of your day too ordinary, too messy, or too late for you to whisper—or even shout—My name. I do not require eloquence. I respond to honesty. I respond to trust. When you call out “Lord Jesus,” you are not reminding Me to come near… you are reminding yourself that I already have. I am your salvation, your joy, your rest, your very breath.

Let your lips agree with your spirit. Let your voice match the freedom I’ve already given you. Speak My name—not to prove anything, but to participate in what is already true. You are Mine. I live in you. Every time My name touches your lips in faith, your heart is refreshed in grace.

You are not merely saved once. You walk in the fullness of salvation as you yield to Me moment by moment. Keep calling—not to strive for closeness, but to enjoy it.

🔍 Real-Life Analogy:
Think of a garage door opener. You can stand outside with your arms full of groceries, knowing the opener is in your pocket, yet the door won’t open until you press the button. That tiny press doesn’t force the door open—it simply accesses a mechanism already in place.

In the same way, calling on the Lord’s name doesn’t make Him present—it acknowledges His nearness. Your audible cry, even as soft as a whisper, can be like pressing that opener: not striving, but activating awareness, peace, and union that’s already yours.

So, as you walk into a difficult conversation, pause and call out His name—not to summon Him, but to enjoy the One who’s already there. As you feel stress rising, say, “Lord Jesus, You are my peace in this moment.” Yield to His life rather than trying to manage on your own. He will live His calm, His wisdom, His love in and through you.

🙏 Prayer of Confidence:
Lord Jesus, Your name is not just a word I speak—it is the very center of my life. Thank You that I never have to wonder if You hear me. You live in me. You’ve already given me access, already united me to Yourself. So I rejoice to call on Your name—not as a desperate cry for what I lack, but as a joyful recognition of what I’ve been given. Your salvation is not far off—it is here. You are here. And I rest in that with every breath.
