We Want to See Jesus
When we behold Him long enough, His image stays imprinted—even on the ordinary.

Today’s reflection from A.B. Simpson invites us to fix our eyes on Jesus so intently that His image becomes imprinted upon every facet of our lives. Just as those Greeks approached Philip with a sincere longing—“Sir, we want to see Jesus”—we too are drawn by the Spirit into deeper vision, one that alters how we perceive everything else.
The devotional moves our gaze beyond present circumstances into a future filled with divine purpose. As Christ endured suffering by keeping the joy set before Him always in sight, so we are called to endure with our eyes lifted. The vision of Christ ahead sustains us. And as we keep looking, that vision begins to color everything we see. Like a child staring at a golden sign until its imprint appears even on a plain brick wall, when we behold Jesus, His beauty and goodness bleed into every landscape of life.
The promise is this: there is no future event, no upcoming season, no mountaintop or valley where the King in His beauty will not be present. But we must train our gaze to see Him—and only Him—until every scene reflects His face.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
You are drawn to Me because I have placed eternity in your heart. And when you said, “I want to see Jesus,” it was My Spirit stirring within you, lifting your gaze above what is seen into what is eternal.
Do not fear the unknown seasons ahead, for every place your foot shall tread, I will be with you. Every work of service prepared in advance, I have also equipped you to walk in. But more than tasks or destinations, I give you Myself. It is My presence that changes ordinary moments into sacred ones.
Look long at Me. Let your eyes rest on Me until My reflection saturates everything you see. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, I will be there—a voice behind you, within you, before you, saying, “This is the way.” Even the brick walls of waiting and the shadows of delay will glow golden when your vision is filled with Me.
Let nothing else compete with your gaze. For what you behold, you will become. And as you continue to look to Me, I will transform you from glory to glory, until all you see, and all you are, is shaped by the beauty of the Son.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like staring at the sun for a brief moment, then closing your eyes and still seeing its light linger behind your eyelids. The world fades, but the imprint remains. In the same way, when you behold Christ long enough, His presence lingers in your spiritual sight. Even when you're looking at something else, you're still seeing Him.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Jesus, thank You for drawing my eyes to what truly matters—Your unchanging beauty and presence. I rejoice that no part of the road ahead is unknown to You, and every step is already flooded with Your light. Thank You that I do not walk into the future alone. I rest in the truth that the more I behold You, the more I will see You—in everything. My gaze is fixed. You are my vision.
