2 Peter 3:9 says the Lord is not slow as some count slowness. He is patient, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. Today’s reading reminds me that our hope is not in timetables. It is in a Person. We wait for Jesus Himself. Dates and headlines can have a place, but they do not hold our center.
The writers point us away from anxious speculation and toward attachment to the Son of God. Believers belong to heaven, yet we live here with steady hearts. Our life is hidden with Christ in God. That reality trains us to look up through the day, not to escape our callings, but to carry them with hope.
This waiting is not idle. It is watchful love. Readiness does not mean clenched fists. It means open hands, clean motives, and a willingness to be found about our Father’s business. The Spirit uses this hope to make Jesus more precious, not less practical. Everyday work becomes worship when we do it in His name.
I am grateful for how Nick Harrison’s curation keeps this simple. Remember who is coming. Remember why it matters. Let the patience of God shape your pace, your tone, and your choices. He is waiting more truly than we are, and He will not fail to keep His promise.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I fix your hope on My Son from heaven. Your citizenship is in heaven, and you wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. I remind you that He will transform your lowly body to be like His glorious body. Do not be troubled. He has prepared a place for you, and He will come again and take you to Himself.
I teach you to wait with a clean heart. The Lord is not slow. He is patient toward all. While you wait, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Encourage one another with this hope. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you wait for the mercy of Jesus Christ that brings you into eternal life.
I call you to watchfulness. Be awake. Be sober. Keep your lamps ready. Set your mind on things above where Christ is seated. Everyone who has this hope purifies himself as He is pure. Lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Look not to the things that are seen, but to the things that are unseen. Fix your eyes on Jesus.
I steady your patience. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grow weary in doing good. Hold fast the confession of your hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. The grace of the Lord Jesus is with you. Even so, the church says, come, Lord Jesus.

Real-Life Analogy
Think about tracking a rideshare on your phone. You see the little car drawing closer. You do not sprint in circles. You stand ready at the curb with your bag in hand. Waiting for Jesus works like that. The Holy Spirit keeps the map open inside. He replaces hurry with quiet readiness. He nudges you to have the bag of kindness, honesty, and courage in hand so you are ready when it is time to move.
Try this today. Before you start a task or step into a conversation, pause for five seconds and take your place at the curb in your heart. Say, Lord, I trust You to keep me watchful and kind as You live through me in this moment. Then go forward expecting timely words and a steady tone.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that Your promise stands and that Your patience is saving many. Thank You that my life is hidden with Jesus and that this hope anchors my soul. I receive today as a chance to be ready in love, to work with a clear conscience, and to wait with joy. Lord, I trust You to shape my pace, my words, and my motives as I look for Your Son.
