God’s Sovereign Judgment Over All Nations

"Every kingdom rises and falls by His sovereign decree."

In Ezekiel 25, the Grace and Truth Study Bible expositors clearly emphasize God’s sovereign power over all nations, revealing that He is not limited merely to the borders of Israel. While this chapter contains prophecies against neighboring nations—Ammon, Moab, Edom, and Philistia—it was primarily intended to reassure and instruct Israel. Each nation mentioned had mistreated Judah, and God would hold them accountable not only for their outward actions but for the deeper malice in their hearts. The Ammonites gloated arrogantly over Judah’s downfall, Moab rejoiced at Israel’s suffering, Edom exploited Judah’s vulnerability out of vengeance, and the Philistines maliciously sought revenge during Judah’s weakest moments.

What stands out in this passage is God's justice and authority over every kingdom, reinforcing that no nation can act independently of His oversight. Ultimately, every king and kingdom will bow before Him, recognizing His ultimate authority. This truth serves both as comfort and assurance to Israel, reminding them that their God is the righteous Judge who sees every injustice, and as a sobering warning to all nations that their actions against God’s people will not go unanswered.

Journal Entry in the Holy Spirit’s Voice (Scripture Only):

I am the LORD; there is no other. I form the light and create darkness; I bring prosperity and create calamity. I, the LORD, do all these things. Nations conspire and peoples plot in vain; the kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers band together against the LORD and against his Anointed. Yet the One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. I will make known among the nations what I have done, for the kingdom is mine, and I rule over all the nations.

I see every heart, discerning every intent. Nothing in all creation is hidden from my sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before my eyes. I am righteous in all my ways and faithful in all I do. Though the wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them, I laugh at the wicked, for I know their day is coming.

But you, my beloved child, are hidden with Christ in Me. No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is your heritage, the vindication that comes from Me. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit blessing.

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Trust in Me at all times; pour out your heart before Me, for I am your refuge. In My sovereign wisdom, I make all things beautiful in their time. Rest in My unchanging love, knowing that justice is in My hands, and My purposes will surely stand.

My Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your sovereign control over all things. It gives me such peace to know that You see clearly and judge righteously. My heart rests securely, knowing You have given me everything I need in Christ. I trust fully in Your wisdom, Your perfect timing, and Your justice. You alone are my refuge, and I confidently rest in Your faithful care.
