Trusting Him Where You Cannot Track Him
Trusting the process means resting while the unseen work continues.

Today’s reflection by Oswald Chambers unpacks a deep and often overlooked truth about how God works in our lives. Jesus sends us out, and when we go in obedience, He often stays behind to care for the very people we worried about leaving. When He told the disciples to go, He then personally went to teach and preach in their cities. That same pattern remains. If we hold back out of a misplaced sense of duty or fear, we might be interfering with what Jesus Himself desires to do.
Chambers also warns about presuming on God’s role in the lives of others. Sometimes, in our good intentions, we rush to speak, advise, or direct, but God may have told us to be still. There are times when His instruction is for us to withdraw from the teaching and simply wait in silent expectation, allowing Him to minister in ways we cannot. When we assume we know what God will do, we often block the very thing He was ready to accomplish.
The devotional finishes with a vital reminder about waiting. Waiting on God is not a passive retreat. It is a yielded posture of readiness. We wait with faith, not frustration. Joyful obedience, even when still, is the mark of one who trusts not in what they see but in who He is. God’s power is given in His timing, not ours.
Each of these facets: going, not interfering, and waiting, are part of God’s mysterious ways. Chambers encourages us to let go of our assumptions and lean fully into trust. The One who sends us is also the One who stays. The One who tells us to wait is already at work.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, when I send you, I go with you. When I tell you to leave, I remain faithful to those you release. You can trust Me with what you cannot see. My Spirit will teach, guide, and comfort where you are not. I am not limited by your presence or absence.
If I ask you to be silent, it is not because I have nothing to say. It is because I want My words to reach hearts without your interference. Let Me shepherd the ones you love. Let Me draw them in My timing. Your silence can be a sanctuary where they hear Me clearly.
There will be times I tell you to wait. Do not confuse waiting with wasting. My timing is never delayed. I will clothe you with power at the moment it is needed. While you wait, your trust in Me will deepen. I am not asking for your passivity. I am asking for your participation in My rest.
You are not the sustainer of others. I am. Let go of the weight that I never asked you to carry. Trust Me to lead you where I want you. Trust Me to stay where you cannot. Trust Me to act where you feel stuck. My ways are not always understood, but they are always good.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of setting a timer on your oven. Once you’ve prepared the ingredients and placed the dish inside, you close the door and walk away. Hovering over it won’t make it cook faster. In fact, opening the door too often will slow the process. The best thing you can do is trust that the heat is doing its job while you wait.
In the same way, when the Lord sends you to go, to be silent, or to wait, He has already set His perfect timing in motion. You may not see the results right away, but His Word never returns void. So today, if He is calling you to step away from someone or something, or to remain still and quiet, trust that He is at work. Say, “Lord, I trust You to be at work in this unseen place while You live Your life through me in joyful obedience.” Then wait with joy and rest.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I trust You with what I cannot manage. When You send me, I go. When You ask me to step back, I yield. When You call me to wait, I rest in Your perfect timing. You never leave the ones I leave behind. You never forget the work You began. I praise You that You are God in the going, in the silence, and in the waiting.
Thank You that Your Spirit fills every space. I am not the answer. You are. And You have made Your home in me. May I walk today in restful readiness, knowing that You are working both where I am and where I am not.
