Transferred and Transformed

Just as eyes adjust to light, hearts awaken to Christ’s glory as we behold Him.

Today's entry from Miles Stanford traces the believer’s journey from complexity to clarity — from grappling with theological ideas to resting in the radiant simplicity of knowing Christ. At first glance, spiritual truths such as union with Christ, transformation, and divine origin may seem abstract or hard to grasp. But as grace unfolds, these truths become as logically beautiful and experientially real as the gift of justification.

The devotional celebrates a staggering reality: we are no longer merely descendants of Adam trying to please God from a distance. We’ve been transferred into Christ and now carry His very life within us. This isn’t just a new position—it’s a new Person dwelling in us, transforming us from within. The Spirit doesn’t simply hand us guidance as we beg for light; He reveals the glory of Christ to our hearts, and in beholding Him, we are changed.

J.B.S. reminds us that when we rest in Christ—truly satisfied in Him—we begin to turn to Him instinctively. Our affections are drawn upward, not through striving but through beholding. We are not left to figure out how to change ourselves. We are being transformed by the Spirit of the Lord into the image of the One we already behold.

Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit

You are no longer who you once were. You were born in Adam, but now you are alive in Christ. I have taken you from darkness to light, from striving to resting, from judgment to peace. The life that now flows through you is not improved humanity—it is divine life. It is My life.

Set your gaze on Me, and you will see how transformation unfolds without your self-effort. As you behold the beauty of Christ, His interests shape yours. His peace becomes your anchor. You no longer need to chase after revelation like a beggar seeking scraps. I dwell in you, and I disclose Christ to your heart day by day.

The more your soul settles into the reality that you have been transferred into Him, the more your outer life reflects His inner presence. You do not need to manufacture change. Just remain with Me. Rest in My nearness. Let your affections stretch upward where your true life is hidden with Christ in Me.

Real-Life Analogy

It’s like walking into a sunlit room after sitting in dim light. At first, the brightness is overwhelming. But soon, your eyes adjust, and what once seemed harsh becomes beautiful. Details sharpen, colors emerge, and you move freely in the space without hesitation. Likewise, as you abide in the light of Christ, your spiritual eyes adjust to His glory — and transformation happens naturally, even effortlessly.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, thank You that I’ve been transferred out of darkness into the glorious light of Your Son. I rest in the truth that I am no longer in Adam—I am in Christ. Thank You that I don’t need to strive for change, but simply behold the beauty of Jesus and trust the Spirit to transform me. You have already given me new life. I receive this day with joy, knowing I am Yours and that Christ lives in me now.
