Today’s reflection from E. Stanley Jones brings us to the summit of victory: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph...”(2 Corinthians 2:14). Jones emphasizes that the believer’s triumph is not measured by circumstances but by abiding in Christ—where defeat cannot define us. Christ’s spirit—seen most vividly on the cross in His words of forgiveness—is itself the triumph. Whether in persecution or personal loss, when His Spirit flows through us in grace and forgiveness, that is the unmistakable evidence of victory.
Jones recounts moving testimonies: a believer forgiving his persecutors rather than seeking justice, another declaring victory through forgiveness rather than vengeance. The thread is clear: when the Spirit of Christ is manifested through us—especially in hardship—God spreads the fragrance of Christ through our lives. It is not outward success that defines our triumph, but the inward display of His life, even when all else appears lost.

You are always in triumph because I always abide in you. Victory is not delayed until circumstances improve—it is present, active, and real in this very moment, because I am your life.
You may face words that wound, situations that feel like defeat, or silence that seems heavy. But if you draw from Me, if My spirit of forgiveness, gentleness, and unwavering trust flows through you, then that is the triumph. You are not striving to win; you are revealing the victory that has already been secured.
When Jesus spoke mercy from the cross, the world saw loss—but I was revealing glory. When you extend grace instead of revenge, when you forgive rather than retaliate, when you trust instead of despair—you are led in triumph. And through you, I spread the sweet fragrance of Christ everywhere.
Live from Me, not for Me. Yield to Me in every circumstance. For when My life is seen in yours, the world catches a glimpse of heaven’s victory.

🔍 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like walking through a crowded room wearing a subtle but beautiful fragrance. You don’t have to say a word—people notice. In the same way, when you walk through life abiding in Christ, His life emits a spiritual aroma that touches hearts, even in silence. Forgiveness, grace, and quiet trust leave behind the unmistakable scent of triumph.
🙏 Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that I am never at the mercy of circumstances. I am always in Christ, and therefore, always in triumph. Even when things appear broken or unjust, Your Spirit in me is the victory. I don’t need to strive for outcomes or control what others do—I need only yield to Your life in me. Thank You for leading me in a victory that this world can’t understand but desperately needs to witness. I rest in that today. Amen.
