In today’s devotional, A.B. Simpson suggests Christianity is not a call to endless struggle or to a grim death march. It is the proclamation of life—resurrection life. Jesus did not merely come to show the way or to hand us a rulebook for better behavior. He came to be our life. The message of the cross is not just that we are to die, but that we have already died—and from that death springs new life, eternal and indestructible, flowing from our union with Christ.
This new life begins at a moment as clear and defined as the sunrise. It’s not a gradual climb toward holiness by way of exhaustion. It’s a once-for-all surrender into death with Christ, followed immediately by participation in His resurrection. As Paul declares, we are to reckon ourselves dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ.
This resurrection life is not theoretical. It empowers us to do naturally—by Christ’s indwelling Spirit—what once seemed impossible. It’s not just that we ought to live a certain way. It's that we can—because Another now lives in us.
Let’s stop treating death to self as a lifelong battle and start seeing it as the settled event it already is. The crisis has occurred. The old has gone. The new has come. Now we walk not in the power of our resolve, but in the unshakable vitality of resurrection.
Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit
My child, you were not called to preserve your old life or patch it with holiness. That life ended at the cross. I led you there and watched over the death of everything that separated you from Me. You are not being crucified; you werecrucified. You are not trying to rise; you have risen with Me.
You no longer belong to Adam. You are Mine. I do not ask you to struggle for what I’ve already accomplished. Your death to sin is not a process—it is a reality. Your new life in Me is not a hope—it is your present possession. You are now alive in Me, just as surely as I am alive at the right hand of the Father.
Let Me be the life within you. Let go of the illusion that death is ongoing. Instead, walk with confidence in the eternal life that began the moment you trusted Me. This is the miracle of resurrection—not someday, but today. And just as the grave could not hold Me, sin has no dominion over you. You are free. You are Mine. You are alive forevermore.

Real-Life Analogy
It’s like stepping out of a dark hallway into the open sunlight. The moment your feet cross the threshold, the shadows are behind you. You don’t need to keep glancing back, wondering if you’re still in the dark. You’re not. You’re standing in the light. The door has closed. The brightness on your face is proof—you’re already on the other side.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord Jesus, thank You that I no longer need to die daily in some endless struggle for holiness. I have died once and for all in You. And just as surely, I now live in Your resurrection life. I embrace the full reality of what You’ve already accomplished in me. I trust that Your indwelling Spirit expresses this life moment by moment, effortlessly guiding me in Your ways. I no longer strive to live for You—I rest in the joy that You now live through me. Thank You that I walk today not toward life, but from it.
