The Quiet Power That Removes Stones

God’s quiet power removes even the heaviest stones, opening the way for life in Jesus.

T. Austin-Sparks points us to the women at the tomb, who came expecting to find the stone sealed and immovable. Instead, they discovered that it was already rolled away. Their amazement reflects how often we underestimate the quiet power of God. We imagine His works must be explosive, accompanied by earthquakes and thunder, but more often His strength accomplishes what is needed in silence, removing obstacles as if they had never existed.

Sparks reminds us that when our lives are aligned with God’s purpose in His Son, nothing is too large or too heavy for Him to remove. Problems that seem insurmountable, difficulties that weigh us down, and situations that feel impossible can be quietly dissolved by His exceeding great power. Sometimes He allows us to witness His power in dramatic ways, but far more often, His working is subtle, leaving us marveling afterward that the obstacle has simply been dismissed.

The challenge, Sparks observes, is that our amazement sometimes betrays our lack of faith. We are surprised because we did not truly expect God to act. Yet Jesus has already proven His superiority over every stone, whether of sin, death, fear, or circumstance. The resurrection itself demonstrates that no barrier can remain against His purposes.

What Sparks leaves us with is this: we can walk in a steady assurance that God works for the sake of His Son and those united with Him. Stones will move. Obstacles will dissolve. Our part is to live in trust, acknowledging that His power is at work even when it comes in quiet, unseen ways.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

My beloved, do not be afraid of the stones that appear too heavy to move. In My Son, every obstacle has already been overcome. What seems immovable to you is no hindrance to Me. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in you.

There will be times when My power is displayed in ways that shake the earth, and you cannot help but see My hand. But more often, I work in ways that are quiet, subtle, and unnoticed until you suddenly realize the stone is gone. Trust Me when you see no visible movement. Trust Me when all seems still. The stone is not greater than My purpose, and nothing can stand in the way of My will for you in Christ.

Do not marvel as though My power were rare. Expect Me to act. Rest in the confidence that My power is made perfect in weakness, and that what is impossible with man is always possible with Me.

Real-Life Analogy

It is like waking up after a heavy snowfall, expecting to see your driveway buried, and instead finding that a neighbor has quietly cleared it while you slept. You did nothing to remove the weight, yet the obstacle that once blocked you is simply gone. You step outside in amazement, realizing the way forward is open.

So it is when the Lord moves quietly in our lives. He clears what we thought was immovable. Today, when I face a problem that looms large, I can pause and say, “Lord, I trust You to work in ways seen and unseen, and I rest knowing You will remove what I could never move on my own.”

Prayer of Confidence

Lord, I thank You that no stone is too heavy for You. I rejoice that in Jesus, every obstacle has already been defeated, and I can rest in Your quiet power. Even when I do not see how, I know You are working, aligning all things to the purposes of Your Son. I celebrate that I live not in panic, but in confidence, knowing that the way is always open in You.
