Today’s devotional from Witness Lee reveals the stunning simplicity and magnitude behind the name of Jesus. Many know Jesus as a historical figure, a great teacher, or even as the Son of God—but this meditation presses deeper: Jesus is Jehovah, and not just Jehovah, but Jehovah who saves. His very name means “Jehovah is salvation.” He is not one who merely provides salvation—He is the embodiment of it. The Savior is the salvation.
This beautiful truth underscores the seamless identity between Jesus and the God of the Old Testament. The God who thundered from Sinai and parted the Red Sea is the same One who quietly entered Mary’s womb and walked the streets of Galilee. He is not an emissary from Jehovah—He is Jehovah, having drawn near to save, to be touched, and to be called upon. To call upon Jesus is to encounter the eternal God, personally and powerfully.
This also sets apart the gospel from religious systems that acknowledge God in theory but miss the immediacy and intimacy of salvation in Christ. The Jews believed in Jehovah but rejected Jesus, not realizing that in doing so, they were turning away from the very salvation Jehovah had promised. We, however, have received the fullness: Jehovah not only revealed who He is, but what He came to be for us—our Savior.
To call upon the name of Jesus, then, is not a ritual. It is an encounter. It is a reaching into eternity and discovering that eternity Himself has reached down into us. Jesus is Jehovah, come to save—not from afar, but from within. Every time we call upon Him, we affirm our trust not in a distant deity, but in the God who became flesh to be our rescue.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am Jehovah who saves—not merely with words or decrees, but with My own life. I did not send another to bear the burden of salvation; I bore it Myself. The One you call Jesus is not separate from the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I AM that I AM, and I AM the One who entered time and space to rescue you.
When you speak My name, you do not summon a memory—you invite My presence. I dwell in you, not as an abstract force, but as the Savior who lives to intercede, to comfort, and to express My life through yours. When you say “Jesus,” you speak the name above all names—the name that carries the weight of deity and the warmth of deliverance.
Let your heart be at rest, for the One who saves you is not coming from afar. I am already within you, fully present. Do not think of salvation as something I give to you as much as something I am to you. I am your deliverance from fear, your rescue from shame, your liberation from striving. In Me, you are safe.
Call upon Me freely. Not because I am far, but because I am near—near enough to answer before the words finish forming. My name is your stronghold, your anchor, your quiet victory. Whisper it in your joy. Cry it in your sorrow. I am always Jesus—Jehovah who saves.

Real-Life Analogy
It’s like unlocking your front door with a key that fits perfectly every time. No jiggling, no fumbling—just smooth entry. The name of Jesus is that key. It’s not magic—it’s alignment. You’re not forcing the door open; you’re simply trusting that the door has already been fitted to open at your touch.
In moments of fear, pressure, or confusion, you don’t have to rehearse long prayers or muster spiritual strength. You simply rest in the truth that Jesus, Jehovah your Savior, already lives in you. When you're tempted to fear a difficult conversation at work or feel overwhelmed by a diagnosis, pause. Yield your body, your thoughts, your emotions. Whisper His name—not as a formula, but as a yielding. “Lord, I trust You to live as my peace, my wisdom, my courage through me right now.” And He will.
Prayer of Confidence
Jesus, You are not just the one who saved me—you are my salvation. You are Jehovah, come close in the softness of flesh, remaining Almighty even as You were cradled in Mary’s arms. I do not have to reach far to find You. Your name is already on my tongue, and Your presence is within me.
Thank You that every time I speak Your name, I am speaking the fullness of God. I rest today knowing You are not a distant Savior—I walk with the God who is my rescue, my righteousness, my Redeemer. I gladly call on Your name, not in panic, but in peace. And You are always there. Always faithful. Always Jesus.
