The Meek Will Own What the Mighty Could Not Keep
The earth will not be claimed by force but will be given to those who quietly trust the Lord.

The world today is under the rule of Satan, but Revelation 11:15 assures us that the day is coming when the world will fully belong to our Lord and His Christ. That reclaimed world, the earth itself, is the same one spoken of in Matthew 5:5 where Jesus says the meek will inherit it. Today’s devotional from Witness Lee uncovers the countercultural nature of this promise. In the world’s eyes, land is taken by power. History is full of wars fought for territory, and those who resist or refuse to fight are often seen as weak and forgotten. But in the eyes of the kingdom, meekness is not weakness. It is yielded trust.
To be meek, as the devotional defines it, means not to resist the opposition of the world. It means willingly enduring mistreatment and persecution without retaliation. This meekness is not passive resignation. It is a quiet confidence in God’s justice and timing. The meek do not need to grab or demand. They trust the Lord to bring about His kingdom and to give them the inheritance He promised.
Jesus is the perfect example. He did not fight back when arrested or argue when tried. Even nailed to the cross, He remained silent in submission. He was meek, not because He lacked power, but because He fully trusted the Father. And it is this same meekness that the Father will honor when Jesus returns to reclaim the earth.
For those in Christ, this is both a call and a comfort. The call is to embrace meekness rather than struggle to hold ground in this world. The comfort is that the Lord will one day give the earth to those who rested in His way rather than the world’s ways.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, you are not called to win the world’s approval or seize its rewards. You belong to Me, and My ways are not the ways of power-hungry men. The inheritance I have for you will not come through striving or self-defense. It will come through trusting Me while walking as Jesus walked.
The meek will inherit the earth, not because they forced their way, but because they waited on Me. When Jesus stood before Pilate, when He carried the cross, when He hung between heaven and earth, He did not resist. He entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly. You are united to Him, and that same Spirit of trust lives in you.
So do not be troubled when others push past you or trample over what seems to be your place. I have secured your inheritance. What I give cannot be stolen. What I promise will be fulfilled. In this present age, suffer if you must, endure if you are wronged, but do not fight to claim what is temporary. What is eternal is already yours.
I am forming in you the very meekness of Jesus. Trust Me to bring forth the reward, not in this age only, but in the one to come.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of waiting in a long line at a store. People cut in front of you, speak rudely, or ignore the order. Everything in you wants to speak up, take back your spot, and be seen. But instead, you stand quietly, knowing the clerk knows who was there first and will call you when it is your turn.
That is meekness. Not passivity, but trust. You know the One in charge sees you and will not overlook you.
Today, when someone disregards your value, when you’re passed over or misunderstood, resist the urge to fight for recognition. Instead, say, “Lord, I trust You to live Your life through me right now, showing meekness where I want to defend myself.” That trust is your strength, and it will not be forgotten.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I don’t need to win by the world’s rules. You have already given me a place in Your kingdom. Thank You that my inheritance is secure. I praise You that meekness is not defeat, but the way of victory in You.
Today, I rest in the example of Jesus. I do not need to defend myself or force outcomes. I trust You to bring about all that You have promised. The earth is Yours, and You will share it with those who walk in quiet trust.
