The Joy of Yielded Giving

Giving in love is never loss—it’s the overflow of a life saturated with Christ.

Today's reflection from A.B Simpson invites us into the divine mystery of giving—not as a loss, but as a participation in the very heartbeat of heaven. Simpson draws our attention to a truth often forgotten in the age of abundance: that the life most cherished by God is the one marked by surrender, not surplus.

True sacrifice isn’t about deprivation—it’s about devotion. The offering that moves God’s heart isn’t measured by size, but by love. Just as the temple mount held value not for its architecture but for the altar of Abraham’s obedience and David’s treasure, so too our everyday sacrifices become sacred when given in love to Christ.

The Cross of Calvary remains the pinnacle of all giving—the ultimate display of divine love. And because Christ gave everything for us, the Spirit within us now delights to pour out through us. Whether it’s time, resources, or comfort, what we yield in love is never lost—it is multiplied in eternal glory.

✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am the One who gave everything for you—not reluctantly, but joyfully. My love was poured out through blood and pain, not because I needed anything, but because I wanted you. I have no lack, no need, no debt to any soul. And yet I chose you, ransomed you, and now dwell in you, not to take, but to give.

You were not redeemed with silver or gold, but with My own life. And now, when you yield your time, your comforts, your offerings—it is not repayment. It is participation. It is love responding to love. I do not measure your gifts by the world's standards. I see the heart behind the offering.

The altar has always been the meeting place between divine love and human surrender. Abraham’s offering, David’s treasure, the widow’s two coins—each became precious to Me because they came from yielded hearts.

I am not asking you to impoverish yourself. I am inviting you to enter the richness of a love that gives without fear, because it knows it has already received everything in Me. The fragrance of your sacrifice rises to heaven—not to earn My favor, but to express that you already have it.

Come with open hands, not to impress Me, but to experience Me. For where love gives, I multiply. And where you lay down your treasure, your heart is drawn deeper into Mine.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy

It’s like pouring water from a pitcher into a dry sponge. At first it seems like the sponge is losing what it had—but the truth is, it’s soaking up something far more useful. The water disappears not because it's wasted, but because it's absorbed and transformed. So it is when we give in love—what seems like loss is actually the beginning of saturation.

🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence

Father, I rejoice that You are the Giver of all things and have withheld nothing from me—not even Your own Son. I thank You that my offerings, no matter how small, are seen by You when given in love. You have poured out the riches of Christ into my life, and I gladly yield what is already Yours. I trust You to multiply what I release and to deepen my joy as I live with open hands. May every act of giving draw me closer to Your heart, where true treasure is found.
