The Heavenly Way of Holiness

Resting in Christ’s life is like stepping onto His moving path—He carries us where we could never climb ourselves.

Today’s reflection lifts our hearts to the beauty of sanctification as a gift—not a burden. A.B. Simpson draws us away from the exhausting idea of self-improvement and reminds us that true holiness is the work of God Himself within us. Sanctification is not human striving for moral perfection, but the very life of Christ flowing into our being, conforming us to His image by the indwelling Spirit.

Simpson likens this to being carried effortlessly on God’s "elevated railway"—a marvelous image that shifts our perspective from painful climbing to restful transportation. Holiness, then, is not a grim duty but a spontaneous, delightful outworking of the life of God in us. It is a highway—a path that lifts us above the weighty crowds of effort-driven living.

We are invited today not to struggle for holiness, but to fully accept Christ's work in us, allowing Him to cause us to walk in His statutes by His divine life. This is the high, joyous way—the true life of faith.

Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am at work in you both to will and to do according to My good pleasure. It is not by your might nor by your power, but by My Spirit. I have made you holy through the offering of My Son once for all, and I perfect you as you draw near to Me.

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. Therefore, walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. You are being transformed from glory to glory, not by your striving, but by beholding Me and yielding to My life within you.

I have made you My workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which I prepared beforehand that you should walk in them. Rest in My everlasting arms; I will carry you on the highway of holiness. I have promised, and I am faithful to do it.

Real-Life Analogy

Imagine stepping onto a moving walkway at an airport. You don't have to exert yourself to move forward—it carries you effortlessly while you simply rest and stay aligned. Others may hustle past, dragging heavy bags, laboring and sweating. But you are being carried smoothly toward your destination. In the same way, the life of Christ within us is like stepping onto His moving walkway of holiness. We are not asked to drag ourselves through spiritual exhaustion; we are invited to rest in His movement and let His life carry us forward.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I rejoice today that sanctification is Your work in me, not my own achievement. I thank You that You are willing and doing in me what pleases You. I rest in Your life, Your purity, and Your transforming power. Thank You for lifting me above the weary paths of self-effort and setting my feet upon Your highway of holiness. Today, I joyfully yield to Your work, trusting Your Spirit to carry me where my own strength could never take me.
