The Habit of Wealth
You may be carrying more than you realize—the riches of Christ are never out of reach.

Oswald Chambers pulls no punches in exposing one of the most subtly accepted lies among believers: the idea that we somehow live in spiritual poverty when, in fact, we have inherited all the riches of God through Christ. The phrase “I can’t afford it”—whether financially or spiritually—is not humility; it’s a denial of our divine inheritance. This devotional invites us to form the habit of recognizing God's provision—not only mentally but practically, as those who participate in His divine nature through His promises.
Chambers calls out self-pity as a sin that dethrones God in our hearts. When we dwell in scarcity thinking, whether about money, strength, grace, or joy, we act as if our Father has left us empty-handed. But God hasn’t cut us off—He’s lavished us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. If our outward lives are lean, it may be because He’s stripping away false sources of security so that we’ll draw everything from Him alone.
True wealth is found not in accumulation, but in distribution—lavishing what God has already lavished upon us. We participate in the divine nature by trusting Him moment by moment and living as channels through which His abundance flows.
✨ Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit
You are not poor. You are not forgotten. You are not left to your own means. Everything I have is already yours in Christ. I have withheld nothing from you, not even My Son, and in Him I have given you all things.
Do not measure wealth the way the world does. My provision is not always wrapped in comfort or excess, but it is always enough. I may allow your outer securities to fall away—not to punish you, but to reveal where your true riches lie. My grace is not theoretical; it is the active presence of My life within you, empowering you to overflow in every good work.
When you say, “I can’t,” I whisper, “But I have.” When you’re tempted to say, “I don’t have enough,” look again—your sufficiency is Christ. My Spirit in you will never run dry, never grow weak, never leave you gasping.
Release the habit of lack. Cultivate the habit of recognizing My abundance. Turn from self-pity; it draws your eyes inward and blinds you to Me. Instead, lift your eyes and see the open storehouse of heaven. Let My generosity become yours. As you pour out, I will fill. As you give, I will supply. As you trust, I will multiply.
You are rich—immeasurably so. Not because of your circumstances, but because of your Christ.

🪙 Real-Life Analogy
I once pulled out a winter coat and discovered a forgotten $20 bill tucked in its pocket. I had walked around for weeks thinking I had nothing extra, but the whole time, I’d unknowingly carried provision with me. That bill didn’t appear when I found it—I had simply failed to remember it was already mine.
So it is with the riches of Christ. His life, His grace, His provision—they’re not distant hopes. They’re present possessions, sometimes forgotten in the pockets of our soul.
🙏 Prayer of Confidence
Father, I rejoice in what You have already poured into me through Jesus. You’ve given me Yourself—how could I lack anything? I refuse the lie of scarcity and silence the voice of self-pity. You are my abundance. Your grace is not only enough—it overflows. I rest in Your sufficiency and gladly share what You’ve entrusted to me. Let Your wealth flow through me today—unrestrained, generous, and full of joy.
