When a child hands you a homemade gift—rough edges, maybe a bit lopsided—you cherish it because it came from the heart. And when someone of great means gives, they do so in proportion to their ability and affection. Now consider this: what is God’s greatest gift, the one that surpasses golden streets, angelic choirs, or even the forgiveness of sins? It is not a thing at all. It is a Person. God’s supreme gift is Christ in you—present, personal, and permanent.
Tozer reminds us that God, being God, can only give according to the immeasurable vastness of His love and ability. Therefore, He gives His very own Son to dwell in us. That indwelling is not a symbol or a concept—it is a living union. If Christ is not in you, Paul says, you are not His. But if He is in you, you have already received what heaven itself cannot improve upon.
Coates continues the reflection: we often rejoice more in the blessings from Christ than in Christ Himself. Our theology may be sound, our Bible reading consistent, and yet our hearts remain undernourished if they are not moved by love for Him. The head may be full, but without the affection of the heart, we remain spiritually barren. The only path forward is to let Christ become everything—our joy, our strength, our treasure, our life. Not theology about Him, but His actual life being lived through us.
📓 Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture:
My beloved, do you not know? I am already in you. Not visiting occasionally, not dwelling in the shadows—I live in you as My home. I am not far off, waiting for you to improve. I am the treasure already deposited within, the final gift from the Father, sealed by My Spirit.
You have looked for peace, for strength, for spiritual progress. But you will not find these as separate gifts lying outside you—they are wrapped up in Me. I am your peace. I am your strength. I am your life. Let your heart turn from seeking to savoring—from striving to abiding.
My Word is not a manual for imitation but a mirror revealing that I dwell in you. As you behold Me there, you are transformed—not by study alone, but by union. You are not being molded from the outside in; you are growing from the inside out, because I live in you.
So do not test your progress by performance or by emotion. Rather, test whether you are walking in Me, trusting Me, letting My life flow through yours in quiet moments and bold decisions. I am not merely a doctrine to understand but a Person to enjoy—Christ in you, the hope of glory.

🔍 Real-Life Analogy:
Think of a house that’s already wired with electricity. The power source is fully installed—it’s not waiting to be delivered. But if the switches are never flipped, the lights won’t shine, the appliances won’t hum, and the home will remain dark and cold, despite having all the power it needs.
Likewise, Christ lives in us—not waiting to be summoned, but ready to radiate through every aspect of our lives. When we yield in trust and rest in His indwelling presence, His life flows like power to every moment. Today, in a conversation that could turn tense, or when you’re tempted to perform or impress, quietly acknowledge: “Lord, You are already here—live through me now.” And watch as light fills the room.
🙏 Prayer of Confidence:
Father, I don’t have to plead for what You’ve already given. Christ is in me—Your final and supreme gift. I thank You that I lack nothing, because You did not withhold Your very best. Not only have You forgiven me, not only have You promised eternity, but You’ve made my heart Christ’s dwelling place now. I trust that His life will express itself through mine today—through my words, my decisions, my pauses, my love. What a gift. What a Giver. I rest in the fullness already mine.
