The Door Is Open—Come In

The door is open—every spiritual blessing has been freely given in Christ.

Some of us may look back on our spiritual journey and assume that our experience, our emotions, or our longevity in the faith secures our standing. But today’s devotional from AB Simpson reminds us that everything we’ve received in Christ—from the very first drop to the deepest current—is by grace and grace alone. The gifts of God never shift from being freely given to being earned by spiritual maturity or tenure.

The Holy Spirit has been given not just to comfort us but to open our eyes to what is already ours. He does not invite us to strive for blessings, but to understand them. He does not push us to the window to observe grace; He swings wide the door and says, “Come in, this is all yours.”

The danger, then, is not that we lack blessing, but that we measure it by the wrong scale—by how we feel, how long we’ve walked with God, or how much we think we’ve learned. That is building on sand. True rest and confidence come from knowing that we are not outsiders looking in but beloved children seated at the table.

The question is not whether God is willing to give—it’s whether we’re willing to believe. His Spirit dwells within us to remind us every moment: You belong here. Everything that is Mine, I’ve made yours.

📓 Personalized Journal Entry — Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture:

You are not on the outside anymore. You are not peeking through panes of uncertainty, wondering if you truly belong in My presence. I have removed the veil. I have taken you in, made you Mine, and seated you at My table. You have received My Spirit so you may comprehend—not merely admire from afar—all that I have freely given you.

My grace did not greet you at the door only to fade as you walked in. It floods every room, it fills every moment. There is no part of your journey where My grace stops being grace. It never becomes a wage. It never becomes yours to earn. Even the insight to grasp My generosity is itself a gift from Me.

When you lean on how you feel, you’re measuring reality with broken instruments. But My Word remains steady. My promises are firm. My Spirit within you is not a guest who comes and goes but your constant Guide, opening your eyes to what already belongs to you in Christ.

Do not ask for what I’ve already placed within you. Instead, walk forward believing that nothing has been withheld. Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places is yours—not later, but now. Not earned, but given. Not outside your reach, but living within.

🔍 Real-Life Analogy:

Imagine standing in a kitchen filled with the aroma of your favorite meal. The table is set, and your place is marked. But instead of sitting down, you remain at the edge of the doorway, hesitating, asking if you’re allowed to join.

Now imagine the host walking over and warmly saying, “Why are you standing there? This has all been prepared for you. Come and enjoy.” That’s the kind of open invitation God gives—not just once, but daily.

In the busyness of life, when the noise of performance and pressure rises, pause to remember: You’re not trying to earn a place—you’re already home. Today, as you sit in a meeting, respond to an email, or take a quiet moment alone, yield your heart to this simple truth: “Lord, I trust You to live Your life in and through me today, not because I’ve earned it, but because You’ve already given it.”

🙏 Prayer of Confidence:

Father, thank You that I no longer live as one looking in from the outside. You’ve drawn me near, seated me with Christ, and filled me with Your Spirit to know and enjoy what You’ve freely given. I rest in the completeness of Your provision. I do not need to measure my progress or cling to performance—I simply trust You, the Giver of all grace. Today, I live with open hands and a confident heart, knowing that all things are mine in Christ Jesus.
