Song After The Sea, Victory In The Valley

After the waves, a song on the shore.

The first worship song recorded in Scripture rises from the shore of the Red Sea. Israel had no choir loft, only wet sand under their feet and the wind at their backs. The horse and rider were gone. The Lord had made a way where there was none, so they sang. That is not just a story, it is a pattern. God acts, then we answer. He saves, then we sing. He leads, then we follow with grateful hearts that trust Him to keep leading.

A. B. Simpson points us straight at this. He reminds us that our Father began with us knowing every struggle we would face. He did not miscalculate. He is not wringing His hands at our obstacles. He intends for us to meet every challenge, not by mustering up more resolve, but by relying on the risen life of Jesus in us. We are not barely getting by. In Jesus, we are more than conquerors, not because we never stumble, but because He never leaves.

Some of us quietly decide, I can surrender anything except this one thing. Simpson gently refuses to leave us there. The Lord who split the sea did not bring us out to strand us on the far shore. He abides with us. He invites us to take the next honest step, trusting His Spirit to carry us through. The battle is not proof that He is far. It is an opportunity to discover that He is near, faithful, and sufficient.

So today we do what Israel did. We look at what the Lord has done, we look at who the Lord is, and we rejoice. Not in self-improvement, but in union with Jesus who is our life. Victory, in the abiding life, is not noise and bravado. It is quiet confidence, steady steps, and a song that rises again and again because the Lord keeps proving Himself faithful. Thank you, A. B. Simpson, for calling us back to this simple confidence.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am with you. I began a good work in you, and I will carry it on. I do not abandon the ones the Father has given Me. I set you free, and when I free you, you are truly free. I lead you in triumph, not by the noise of self-effort, but by the life I share with you. Stand in Me. Be strong in My might. Put on what I have provided. The victory that overcomes is your union with Me.

When the waters rise and the way seems closed, remember the sea that parted. I make a path where none exists. When you meet resistance, do not measure your future by your weakness. Count on My presence. I am the One who goes before you. I uphold you with My righteous right hand. I am your peace. I am your life. I am dwelling in you to will and to work for the Father’s good pleasure.

When accusation whispers, there is no condemnation for you in Me. My blood speaks a better word. Come into the light. Agree with the truth. Walk with Me. I cleanse. I restore. Keep in step with Me. Present yourself to God as one alive from the dead. Reckon yourself dead to sin and alive to God in Me. The same power that raised Me is at work in you. Sing your song on the shore, then walk with Me through the valley. I am faithful, yesterday, today, and forever.

Real-Life Analogy

Think of turning a car key. Your hand does not move the pistons or ignite the fuel. You simply yield the ignition to the engine designed to carry you. The power does not come from your grip, it comes from what awakens under the hood. In the same way, victory is not clenched teeth or a longer checklist. It is trusting the indwelling Holy Spirit to express the life of Jesus through you as you move forward.

Try this today. If a tense conversation meets you at work or at home, pause the urge to push or control. Quietly say, Lord, I rely on You to speak through me with patience and truth right now, please live Your life in me and through me in this moment. Then answer simply and kindly. Expect Jesus to supply the tone and the timing. Let Him turn the key.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, thank You that in Jesus You have already brought me out of bondage and into life. Thank You that Your Spirit lives in me, that Your presence goes before me, and that You have given me every spiritual blessing in Him. I gladly count myself dead to sin and alive to You in Jesus. I receive Your peace for today’s conversations. I receive Your wisdom that is already mine in Christ. I rejoice that there is no condemnation, only cleansing and fellowship as I walk in the light. You began this good work. You are carrying it on. I rest in Your faithful love and I sing because You save.
