Some Seeds Beside A Busy Path
A narrow path beside a road where birds peck at seeds, a quiet picture of how traffic can harden the heart and how Jesus makes room for His word.

Some days the heart can feel like a footpath beside a crowded road. There is traffic in the mind, appointments in the will, and swirling thoughts in the emotions. In today’s reading, Witness Lee points to Jesus’ parable of the sower and helps us see why good seed can land yet never enter. The wayside soil is hard from constant traffic. The seed sits on the surface. Birds sweep in and it is gone. Jesus says this is what happens when the word of the kingdom is heard but not truly understood. The heart is too packed for the seed to sink in.
This is not a scolding. It is a kind invitation. The Lord is gentle. He shows us where the path has been packed and where He wants to plow again. He names the traffic that hardens it, things like ambition, hurry, worry, and the constant buzz of getting ahead. He invites us to become poor in spirit and pure in heart, which simply means open, honest, and ready to receive.
Grace does what rules cannot. Jesus sows His living word, then by His Spirit He softens what is hard, turns over the ground, and opens a place where the seed can enter. Our part is not to try harder. Our part is to yield to Him and let the word take root. Understanding is not just an idea. It is the heart saying yes to the King and His kingdom, then watching as life grows.
Friend, if the road has been loud around you, you are not disqualified. The Gardener of your soul knows how to hush the traffic and make room for life. The seed is good. Jesus is near. Let us welcome Him together.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I sow the word of the kingdom in you, and My seed is alive. I am not discouraged by the hard places. I know where the path has been packed, and I am present to break the crust with kindness. Open to Me, and I will give you understanding. To be poor in spirit is not loss, it is a cleared space where My life can enter. To be pure in heart is not pressure, it is single-hearted trust in Me.
I am the One who removes the heart of stone and gives a heart of flesh. I write My word within. I work in you to will and to do what pleases Me. As you abide in My Son, the seed abides in you. The evil one may try to snatch what lies on the surface, so let Me turn the ground and press the seed deep. I guard what I plant. My word is living and active. It roots, it grows, it bears fruit in season.
Set your mind on the Spirit. Let the peace of Jesus govern your heart. Receive with meekness the implanted word. Keep My words before you. Treasure them within. As you look to Me, I transform you from one degree of glory to another. I am faithful. I began this good work, and I will carry it on as you keep welcoming Me with a willing heart.
Real-Life Analogy
Think of your phone’s lock screen when notifications flood in. If an important message arrives while popups cover the screen, you might swipe it away without opening it. The message was good. The clutter kept it from getting in. In the same way, the Spirit of Jesus is not asking you to wrestle your attention into submission by sheer effort. He is inviting you to trust Him right in the moment the clutter piles up. For example, before a busy meeting or while standing in a long line, you might quietly say, Lord, I yield my attention to You, express Your life in me as I set aside this mental traffic and welcome Your word. Then act on the one simple step He brings to mind, like silencing notifications for a time, opening your Bible app to the passage of the day, or lingering over a single verse you already know, letting Him press the seed beneath the surface.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, thank You that the seed of Your kingdom is living and good. Thank You that in Jesus I am a new creation with a heart You are keeping tender. You sow, You water, and You give the increase. I agree with You about the traffic that has hardened my attention, and I thank You that Your Spirit is turning the soil right now. I rest in the finished work of the cross, the life of Jesus in me, and the wisdom You have already supplied in Your word. Today I welcome Your peace to rule my heart. I celebrate that Your word is taking root and will bear fruit in its season, for Your glory and for the good of those around me. Amen.
