Slow But Sure

Walking with God is not a sprint—it’s a steady, step-by-step unfolding of grace.

Today’s reflection by Miles Stanford invites me to slow down—intentionally, prayerfully—and walk at the pace of grace. In a world that rushes, God never hurries. His movements are deliberate because His work is finished. He’s not racing to complete something—He’s unfolding it step by step in those who walk by His Spirit.

The pace of our spiritual maturity is not driven by effort or striving. Like physical growth, spiritual maturity is the fruit of nourishment, exercise, and time. We are not made mature overnight; we are formed in the quiet consistency of walking with Him—again and again, moment by moment.

I’m reminded that the most enduring fruit isn’t rushed. Mushroom growth may come quickly and vanish just as fast. But when I let the Spirit take His time with me, the outcome is lasting, real, and deep. My “yes” to Jesus in the present moment is enough. I don’t have to be anxious about getting somewhere—I only need to be with Him where I am.

✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I never called you to rush ahead of Me. I invited you to walk with Me. Your hurried thoughts are not from Me—I move in rest. I move in peace. I move in the security of what is already finished.

The desires I place within your heart do not bloom overnight. They unfold as you abide. You were not born mature—you were born anew. And just as a child learns to walk one step at a time, so will you learn to walk by My Spirit. The steps I ordain for you are not random. Each one is a deliberate act of My love, and I delight in the way I lead you.

Do not despise small beginnings. Do not grieve slow growth. I am not measuring your maturity by how much you do or how fast you move—I am forming Christ in you. That work is not rushed. It is sacred. Every pause, every delay, every quiet season is a space where I nourish you in ways unseen.

Be content to move with Me. Not ahead of Me, not behind Me. I am walking with you now, and I am not in a hurry.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy

It’s like waiting for bread to rise. You can’t rush it with noise or heat—it takes quiet and time. You knead it, you rest it, and you wait. And in that unseen process, the dough expands. Try to speed it up, and you’ll ruin it. But wait patiently, and something nourishing takes shape—warm, fragrant, and ready in its perfect time.

🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence

Father, I thank You that Your pace is never rushed, and Your path for me is never random. You have ordered each of my steps, and I can rest in that. I don’t need to sprint ahead to prove anything, nor drag behind in fear. I trust the process of growth You’ve begun in me, and I rejoice that Christ is being formed in quiet, steady ways. In You, I lack nothing. I delight in the journey, knowing that You delight in walking it with me.
