Secured, Not Sensed
Christ has already secured what we keep looking to feel

Today’s devotional compiled by Nick Harrison invites us to let go of self-assessment and emotional proof as the basis for confidence with God. Too many believers live as if they must continually earn or confirm their standing with Him. Instead of walking in the security of what has been accomplished through the resurrection of Christ, they look inward for feelings, evidences, or experiences that validate their faith. The result is a shaky and uncertain walk, prone to fear and discouragement.
But Scripture says we have already been begotten again into a living hope. This is not a conditional hope or one we must maintain through effort or emotional consistency. It is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ, whose resurrection guarantees our eternal inheritance. That inheritance is described as incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading. It is reserved in heaven and protected by the power of God through faith.
G. V. Wigram reminds us that seeking feelings or signs to confirm our salvation is actually a subtle form of unbelief. God has spoken clearly about what we have in Christ. Our part is to rest in what He has already given. L. L. Letgers then draws our attention to union with Christ as the true foundation of spiritual growth. When we realize that we are united to the risen Son of God, our lives become anchored in truth rather than tossed about by fluctuating experience.
This is not a call to dismiss experience altogether. It is a call to stop pursuing it as proof. Experiences come, but they are the result of knowing and resting in the truth of Christ in us. When we stop measuring the Christian life by what we feel, and start resting in what God says is true, joy and strength follow. That is where peace begins to rise and overflow, not from striving, but from simple, settled trust.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, I have not asked you to verify My presence by your feelings. I have not left you to depend on emotional highs or spiritual moments to prove My love. I have given you My Word and placed My Spirit within you. I have united you with My Son. This is not a hope that comes and goes. It is a living hope that began with His resurrection and continues as your daily reality.
You are already seated with Christ. You already belong to Me. I am not waiting for you to improve before I grant you peace. I have already placed My peace within you. Do not wait to feel comforted in order to believe you are comforted. Trust what I have said. Believe that My presence is with you even when the silence feels heavy. I do not leave. I do not abandon. My strength is not diminished by your weakness.
You are being kept by My power. You are not held up by your effort. The inheritance I have given you cannot be corrupted. It will not fade. It is reserved, and so are you. When you do not sense Me, speak what is true. When your heart feels dry, return to what I have declared. You are not living toward victory. You are living from the victory of Christ already accomplished.
Let this truth settle your soul. From this place of rest, I will bear fruit in your life. Not because you chased Me, but because I am already within you.

Real-Life Analogy
It’s like checking your bank account balance before making a purchase, even though a friend already deposited a gift into it for you. You keep refreshing the app, hoping to feel more certain. But the deposit is there. It’s yours. The transaction has already cleared.
In the same way, our life in Christ has already been secured. We don’t need a surge of emotion to confirm it. As we move through the day, and doubts surface or peace feels distant, we can pause and say, “Lord, I trust that You have already filled me with every spiritual blessing. I yield to You in this moment and walk forward, knowing You are living through me.”
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that I am not left to rely on what I feel. You have given me a living hope through the resurrection of Christ. I have an inheritance that will not fade and a Savior who will not leave. I rest today in the truth that I am kept by Your power, not by my strength. I trust You to live through me, not because I always sense it, but because You said it is so. Amen.
