Sealed by the King
A king’s seal leaves a mark—Christ has sealed me with the Holy Spirit forever.

Today’s devotional by Witness Lee draws a beautiful comparison between Joseph’s promotion in Egypt and Christ’s exaltation after His resurrection. Just as Pharaoh gave Joseph a signet ring—a symbol of delegated authority and identification—so the Father gave Christ the Holy Spirit at His ascension. The ring was used as a seal, marking whatever it touched with the authority of the one who owned it.
Likewise, when we receive Christ, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13). This seal is not merely symbolic; it is living and active. It doesn’t come and go based on our behavior—it abides with us. The devotional reminds us that even in the darkest or most compromising environments, this seal remains. It quietly witnesses within us that we belong to Christ, prompting us to live in line with our true identity. The seal isn't given to the worthy—it’s given to the redeemed. It’s not earned through effort—it’s bestowed through union.
Lee shifts our attention from behavior management to belonging. We don’t strive to be accepted—we have been sealed as His. Christ, our exalted Joseph, now carries the authority of heaven and marks us as His treasured people with the living, indwelling Holy Spirit.
Journal Entry — Voice of the Holy Spirit
You are Mine. I sealed you the moment you believed. I did not wait for your performance to improve. I placed My Spirit within you as a declaration of your new birth and your permanent belonging.
The seal is not a stamp of human worth but of divine ownership. Just as Joseph received the ring from Pharaoh and used it to mark what mattered to the king, so Christ has received Me—the Spirit—from the Father and sealed you as one who matters to Him.
This seal is not on paper. It is not a certificate you can misplace. I am your seal. I remain in you. I confirm that you are in Christ and Christ is in you. You may walk through places where My voice seems quieter—but even there, I will gently nudge you back to the reality that you are set apart. Even when you forget Me, I never leave you.
You are no longer common. You are set apart by the One who gave everything to call you His. The world may not see the seal, but your spirit knows it well. I will guide you from within, not to shame you, but to remind you: you are beloved, marked, and always Mine.

Real-Life Analogy
It’s like the scent of essential oil placed on your skin. Once it’s there, it lingers. You might walk through a crowd, step into a store, or even drift into sleep—but the aroma stays with you. You don’t have to reapply it every few minutes. Even when you forget about it, others may notice it on you. That’s how the seal of the Holy Spirit works. It’s on you. In you. Ever present.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, I rest in the truth that I am sealed by Your Spirit. I don’t have to fear being forgotten, discarded, or unmarked. I have already been claimed by Christ, and the Holy Spirit within me is living proof. Thank You for this invisible mark that identifies me as Yours. Even in moments of weakness or wandering, Your seal stays sure. I rejoice in this gift, and I walk today aware that I am never without You.
