Risen With Him, Resting in Him

The sea that once threatened now lies still—every enemy silenced, every heart stilled by the risen Christ.

The Lord’s deliverance of Israel at the Red Sea is more than an inspiring historical moment—it’s a picture of complete salvation. Every foe was defeated. Not one Egyptian remained on the shore to chase them again. In the same way, every person who places their trust in Jesus Christ has passed from death to life, from bondage to freedom. The cross didn’t merely begin the process of salvation—it finished it. Our enemies, including sin and death, are silenced at the cross. We are complete in Him, risen with Him, and secure in Him.

W.T.P. Wolston urges us to look higher—not just to the facts of forgiveness, but to the Person of our risen Lord. Salvation is not a transaction alone; it is union with a living Savior. Christ is not a memory or a doctrine; He is seated at the right hand of the Father as our present, living Object. And because we are united with Him, His resurrection life is our life now.

C.A. Coates adds an important dimension. Knowing Jesus as a figure of the past is not enough. Our hearts need a present Object—a living Person to whom we look. The risen Christ is not only seated in glory, He is the focus of our worship and the anchor of our hearts. The joy of salvation grows as our eyes turn from ourselves to Him who is alive forevermore.

Samuel Rutherford closes the devotion with tender assurance. There is room in Christ’s bosom for each of us—for you. We are not one of many merely added to a crowd, but cherished individually. As Christ is our Object, we find our rest—not only from our enemies, but from our own striving.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

You have been raised with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly places. The Red Sea was not just a moment in history—it was a shadow of the salvation I have given you. Just as the Egyptians were left behind in the sea, your old self was crucified with Christ. You are no longer in Adam, but in Me. You are free.

When you look to Jesus seated at My right hand, you are not admiring from a distance—you are seeing your very life. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in Me. I did not save you to leave you striving, but to dwell in you and express My life through you. This salvation is not only forgiveness—it is deliverance, justification, peace, and union.

Do not look to the past to measure your progress. Do not look to yourself to secure your standing. Look to Jesus. Fix your heart on the One who lives in glory and lives in you. He is your salvation. He is your peace. He is your identity. In Him you lack nothing. Your risen Savior is not a doctrine to believe once—He is a Person to depend on now.

Let your heart find rest in this: the victory is Mine, and you are included. The cross has silenced your accusers, and the resurrection has given you new life. I rejoice over you. There is room in My heart for you, always.

Real-Life Analogy

Picture a phone’s GPS once you’ve reached your destination. The voice that guided you all along the way goes silent, not because it abandoned you, but because the journey is complete. You’ve arrived. There’s no longer a need to recalculate, reroute, or be warned about missed turns—you are already where you’re supposed to be.

In Christ, you have arrived. The striving to get right with God is over. The weight of proving yourself is behind you. You’re not waiting for a future rescue—you're already secure. Today, instead of scanning for signs or second-guessing your steps, simply rest. Say to the Lord, “I trust You to live Your Life through me in this moment of quietness. I yield to You, not as a wanderer, but as one who has already arrived and belongs.” Whether you’re sitting in a meeting, changing a diaper, or walking through grief—your Savior is risen, and you are risen with Him.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I praise You for a salvation that is full, final, and finished. Jesus died, I died. Jesus rose, I rose. And now I am seated with Him in heavenly places. I am not waiting for deliverance—I am walking in the freedom You’ve already given. Thank You that every enemy has been silenced, and that I am no longer bound to fear, guilt, or performance. Christ is my Life. He is my Object. He is my Peace. I rejoice that I am not forgotten in the crowd but held personally in Your heart. I rest today, not in what I see, but in what You’ve done.
