Psalm 10: God Sees and Reigns Forever
Even when justice feels hidden in the fog, the light of God’s reign never dims.

Psalm 10 opens with a tension familiar to many hearts: the anguish of perceiving God’s absence during times of great evil. Although Psalm 9 ended with a triumphant reminder of God’s justice, Psalm 10 begins with David’s aching question: Why, O Lord, do You stand far off? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble? These questions don’t arise from unbelief, but from the sting of watching injustice thrive while the innocent suffer.
This psalm paints the wicked with sharp strokes: proud, oppressive, greedy, scheming. They succeed in outward ways—trapping the helpless, scoffing at God, and believing their evil goes unseen. Yet David holds onto a deep confidence that, even if hidden for a time, God does see. He knows God will break the power of the oppressor, defend the fatherless, and prove that mere mortals cannot stand against His eternal reign.
The shift from lament to trust is striking. God is not distant. He hears. He strengthens hearts. He lifts up the afflicted. Though the wicked whisper, "God will never notice," the psalmist replies: But You do see. That is our confidence too: God sees, God reigns, and God will act.

I never look away. I am near, even when shadows stretch long across your path. When the wicked rise in arrogance and the innocent are crushed in secret, I am not far off—I am the witness, the avenger, the Father of the fatherless and the defender of the oppressed.
The world may shout that I am silent, that I do not see. But I see. I know every snare set in darkness, every boastful thought, every lie whispered by those who prey on the vulnerable. I am not idle. I weigh every deed, and none escape My hand. Though justice tarries for a season, I will not leave the guilty unpunished.
My eyes are on the righteous, and My ears are attentive to their cry. I strengthen the hearts of those who seek Me—not with force of arms, but with the quiet power of My presence. Though the wicked claim I am blind, I lift the heads of the lowly and speak courage into their souls.
The nations will tremble and fall, but I will remain forever. You are not forgotten. You are not forsaken. I will uphold your cause, for I am your King, your refuge, your reward.

Real-Life Analogy
It’s like walking through fog so thick you can’t even see your own hands—but knowing the sun is still there. The fog doesn’t change the sun’s location or power. It only clouds your view for a while. Eventually, the wind moves the fog, the warmth breaks through, and the sky is clear again. The sun had never moved.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that You see what others overlook. Thank You that no act of cruelty is hidden from Your eyes and that no suffering escapes Your care. I trust that You are not only watching, but reigning—and that You will act in Your time. While the wicked boast, I rest in Your rule. While the helpless cry out, I praise You for drawing near. You are my King forever, and You will never forsake those who belong to You.
