Our One Object

When the Source is within, the light never fails.

When we first awaken to the seriousness of our call as Christ-followers, it’s common to grieve over how feeble our love for Him seems. We want to love Him more purely, more faithfully, more consistently—but we discover our love is often selfish, distracted, and weak. Yet the answer is not in trying harder to love Him more. It is in resting deeper in the truth of His great love for us.

This is the gateway into the “not I, but Christ” life. His love becomes the wellspring that reshapes our motives, renews our desires, and re-centers our wandering hearts. The more we learn to abide in Him—moment by moment, trusting that His life is our life—the more we experience true communion with the Father, and the more others experience the blessing of Christ through us.

Without this abiding communion, everything begins to unravel. We lose peace, we drift into selfish patterns, and we affect others with our unrest. But when the Lord Jesus is continually set before us, we live in power, joy, and spiritual clarity. It is only when He Himself is our one object—rather than ministry, morality, or blessing—that we are truly satisfied. His all-sufficiency meets our every insufficiency, and His love floods what we could never fill.

✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I have poured My love into your heart through the Holy Spirit I gave you. I did not ask you to produce love from your emptiness; I gave you Myself as the Source. The love you long to give Me is already yours through union with Me. You mourn your inconsistent affections—but I remain faithful. I do not measure your value by the flicker of your feelings, but by the eternal flame of My devotion.

You are not sufficient in yourself—and I never intended you to be. Your sufficiency is from Me. I do not ask you to be strong, only to remain in Me. As you set your eyes upon My Son, I conform you to His image. This is not the striving of the flesh—it is the quiet miracle of abiding. In Me, your soul finds rest. In Me, your heart finds power. In Me, your life finds clarity.

When you slip from communion, the weight of the world returns. But I have made a way for you to return again and again—to the joy, the peace, the strength that flow from abiding. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Let Him be the one Object. Not your ministry. Not your growth. Not your reputation. Only Him. For it is in beholding Him that you are changed, and it is in loving Him that you become who you already are in Me.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy

It’s like holding a flashlight with fading batteries. You can shake it, tap it, or try to angle it just right to coax more light—but nothing truly helps until the batteries are replaced. In the same way, we can try to conjure up spiritual zeal or stronger love through our own effort, but we only flicker. True light returns when we yield to the power source within—the Spirit of Christ who never runs dry.

🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence

Father, I thank You that I don’t have to manufacture love for You. You have already filled my heart with Yours. You have given me Christ as my very life—Your sufficiency replacing my insufficiency. I rejoice that communion with You is not a task but a gift, and I rest today with Christ before me as my one desire. You are more than enough for every moment, and I trust You to express Your life through me.
