Resting Boldly in His Presence
Only what is rooted in Christ will remain when the current of eternity carries all else away.

T. Austin-Sparks reminds us that life’s decisions should never be weighed merely by what seems good, beneficial, or even spiritual on the surface. Instead, each new opportunity must be brought under the searching light of God’s eternal purpose in Christ. Not a fragment of Scripture, but the full testimony of God’s Word must guide us.
We are not called by God because of our works or ambition or cleverness, but because of His purpose and grace, granted in Christ before time began. Every crossroad in life must be tested with a single question: Is this in direct alignment with God's revealed purpose in Christ? If not, no matter how appealing or strategic the choice may seem, it will not last—it will be swept away like driftwood in the current of eternity.
The purpose of God is not vague or hidden. It is centered entirely in His Son. Every plan, decision, ambition, and pursuit must therefore be measured against that singular aim—to reveal Christ, depend on Christ, and remain in Christ. In the end, only what is truly of Him will endure. Everything else will dissolve in the river of time and be left behind.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I called you not because of your potential, your plans, or your passions, but because of My eternal purpose, fulfilled in Christ before time began. Your life is not random. It is woven into something far greater than what you see or feel—My desire to conform you to the image of My Son and to display My grace through your yielded heart.
Do not measure your path by success or failure, by ease or resistance, by praise or obscurity. Measure it only by this: does it lead you deeper into Christ? Does it bring more of Him forth in you? I will not illuminate paths of self-exaltation or ambition. But I delight to give light to the one who longs to walk in line with My purpose.
There is no need to fear missing My will when your heart is set on My Son. Bring each new opportunity to Me and ask, “Does this align with what is eternal, or will it be swept away?” I am not asking you to be clever, only yielded. I will do the sifting. I will show you what remains. Your calling is not to strive, but to abide—and in that abiding, I reveal what truly matters.
Let My purpose define your decisions. Let My grace be your compass. What is born of Me will endure; what is born of the flesh will fade. Choose what flows from My eternal design, and you will never walk in vain.

🪣 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like sifting through a box of keepsakes before a big move—some things are sentimental, some useful, but most won’t make the cut. You begin to see clearly what really matters, what will serve you in the next season, and what will only weigh you down. So it is with the Spirit—He gently reveals what aligns with eternity and what must be left behind.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that I don’t have to figure life out on my own. I rest in the truth that Your purpose in Christ has already been set before the foundation of the world, and You’ve called me into it. I praise You for revealing what truly matters. I trust You to make clear what is eternal, and to gently show me what has no lasting substance. Thank You for aligning my heart with what endures. I choose to walk in quiet dependence, confident that You will keep me in step with Your will as I rest in Christ today.
