My Ways in Christ

Just as no fingerprint is repeated, so Christ expresses Himself uniquely through each life.

Today’s reflection by E. Stanley Jones invites us to consider something both liberating and quietly revolutionary: we each have ways in Christ. While Jesus alone is the Way, the Spirit does not dissolve our individuality in the process of conforming us to Christ. Rather, God redeems and re-expresses our uniqueness through Christ. Jones encourages us to release the burden of imitation—that exhausting inner pressure to mimic someone else’s calling, gifts, or path—and instead rest in the truth that our individuality was never an obstacle to Christ’s life. It is part of the design.

There is no template for the life of Christ expressed in you, because you are not a copy. You are a distinct expression of His grace and workmanship. Just as the four Gospels present different portraits of Jesus, so the Spirit writes a unique gospel—“the gospel according to you”—through your life. Not a new doctrine, but a fresh testimony of the same Christ, lived out through your particular voice, wiring, and walk.

This releases the inner tension of comparison. You don’t need to be a Moody, a Spurgeon, or even someone who looks like the person you admire most. Christ in you is not a secondhand version of someone else’s spirituality. He is original, alive, and personal. In Christ, individuality is not erased—it is redeemed.

✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I made you wonderfully distinct on purpose. When I formed you in the secret place, I wasn’t creating a replica—I was shaping a one-of-a-kind vessel to display My glory in a way no other could. I knit your personality, your voice, your passions, and even your weaknesses into a tapestry through which My life can be revealed uniquely.

I did not call you to become someone else. I called you to be filled with Someone else. It is no longer you who live, but Christ who lives in you—and this indwelling Life shines through your redeemed uniqueness, not in spite of it.

When Paul said “my ways in Christ,” he understood this truth. He didn’t lose himself in Me; he found himself by abiding in Me. His gospel bore his voice, his tone, his scars—and through that, I reached the world. So it is with you. I chose you, not because you were like someone else, but because through you, another side of My grace would be seen.

You are not behind. You are not less. You are Mine. Let go of the inner critic that says you should sound like someone else, speak like someone else, or walk someone else’s path. I am not expressing them through you—I am expressing Methrough you. Rest in that. It is enough.

🧤 Real-Life Analogy

It’s like wearing a perfectly fitted glove. You might admire someone else’s glove—its color, design, or how it fits their hand—but if you try to wear it, it won’t feel right. But when you slip your own on—the one shaped just for your fingers—you move with ease. You were never meant to wear someone else's pattern. Christ is the warmth and movement inside, but the glove? That’s uniquely you.

🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence

Father, thank You for forming me to be a vessel through whom Christ expresses His life—not as a replica of someone else, but as a beloved original. I rejoice that I don’t need to compare or conform to others. I rest in Your perfect design and in the confidence that the life of Jesus will be seen through me in a way no one else can reflect. I delight to be Yours, just as You made me, and I trust You to express Yourself through my redeemed uniqueness today.
