Love with Knowledge

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight... Phil 1:9

Father, I see the truth in Paul’s prayer, that love isn’t just sentiment but action. And not just any action—love needs to be wise, discerning, and well-placed. It’s easy for me to think that love means always giving, always saying yes, always trying to fix. But it sure seems that You don’t love that way. Your love is perfect, abounding with wisdom. You waited for the prodigal to come to the end of himself before You lavished him with grace. You knew when to withhold and when to embrace. In my flesh, I don’t know how to do this.

So Lord, I trust You to live Your love through me—not a reckless, undiscerning love, but one that is rooted in Your wisdom. I yield to You so that my love may abound more and more in the knowledge of Christ, that it may act at the right time, in the right way, for the true good of others.

It’s easy for me to mistake noise for witness, to assume that the Christian life is measured by words spoken rather than love expressed. But You remind me that love in action is the greatest testimony. A kind word given at the right moment, a patient silence when needed, a hand extended in service rather than mere sentiment—You tell us that this is love with depth. This is love that speaks louder than any argument or sermon.

So I rest in Your love today, Lord, and I trust You to express it through me—not aimlessly, but with the discernment that only You provide. Thank You that Your Spirit within me leads me in wisdom. Thank You that I don’t have to strive to figure this out on my own. Your love is already in me, already abounding. I simply yield, knowing that You will make it known in the ways that truly matter.

Amen, Lord Jesus!
