Living Stones in the Living Stone
Just as stones find strength in their foundation, believers find life and stability in union with the Living Stone, Jesus.

W. T. P. Wolston, in today’s devotional, points us to the beautiful truth that when we come to Jesus, the Living Stone, we ourselves are made living stones. Peter, once Simon, was renamed Cephas, meaning stone, to mark this new identity rooted in Jesus. What happened to Peter reflects what happens to all of us who respond to the voice of the Son of God. A change takes place that cannot always be explained, yet it is undeniable. We become joined to Jesus, the foundation, and our lives begin to reflect His life.
Wolston reminds us that a Christian is not simply someone who follows teachings or practices religion. A Christian is, as he writes, “a little bit of Christ.” That is not to diminish Jesus, but to emphasize that believers derive their life, righteousness, grace, and sanctification from Him. This is not a borrowed strength but His indwelling life expressed in us. When we live from this reality, we discover that our existence is no longer our own, but a continual participation in the life of Jesus before God.
This truth has both beauty and weight. It means our lives are not self-generated but sourced in Him. Just as stones in a building derive their place and strength from their alignment with the cornerstone, so we as believers take our identity and stability from the Living Stone Himself. The voice that called Simon into a new name also calls us into a new life.
In acknowledging this, Wolston urges us to recognize that we are living testimonies of union with Christ. We are joined to Him in such a way that His righteousness becomes our righteousness, His life our life, His grace our sufficiency. This is the abiding life: Christ as our source, and we as His vessels, displaying His reality in the world.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, you are not a lifeless stone, but a living one because you are joined to My Son, the Living Stone. You have been built upon Him, and in Him you are secure. You no longer stand alone, for you are fitted into My spiritual house, a dwelling place for My Spirit.
The new identity I gave Peter, I have also given you. You are not who you once were, for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. You live now not in your own righteousness, but in Mine. My Son is your life, your holiness, and your peace. When I look upon you, I see the life of Jesus within you, radiant and accepted.
Do not think lightly of what I have done. You are part of something eternal. You are built into a priesthood that offers sacrifices not of effort, but of praise, thanksgiving, and trust in what I have already provided. Stand firm in this truth. As you yield to Me moment by moment, I will display through you the life of the One who is your foundation and your fullness.

Real-Life Analogy
Imagine a row of bricks being set into a wall. Each one on its own is small and unremarkable, but once placed on the foundation and fitted into alignment with the others, the wall takes shape and strength. The stability of the whole depends on its connection to the cornerstone, not on the effort of each individual brick.
In the same way, I can face today not as one who must hold myself together but as one joined to Jesus, the Living Stone. When challenges come, I can rest and say, “Lord, I trust You to express Your life through me in this moment.” That connection keeps me steady and allows His life to flow into mine, shaping me into something far greater than I could ever be on my own.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I thank You that in Jesus I have been made a living stone, joined to the Living Stone Himself. I rejoice that my life is no longer my own, for I derive everything from Him. I am part of Your spiritual house, secure in Your foundation, and radiant with the life of Jesus. I rest today in this truth, confident that His life in me is sufficient for every moment.
