Living Normally, Indwelt Fully
A steady pour over a simple filter, a quiet picture of communion flowing in ordinary moments.

Blessed are the forgiven. Psalm 32 sings it softly, then strong. Today’s page from His Victorious Indwelling reminds me that drawing others to the Lord does not begin with a sales pitch. It begins with the quiet joy of communion. Bellett says our influence rests on our own fellowship with the Lord. That lands simply. People notice when a heart is at rest in Jesus.
We do not live every second naming Jesus out loud while we drive, work, and make dinner. Still, we are joined to Him. Norman Grubb puts words to this inner reality. We act as ordinary men and women, we live ordinary lives, yet in the core it is not really we who live, but He. That sentence settles my soul. The means of grace matter, but they are not the spring. The living water is Jesus Himself. Prayer and Scripture are not our armor by themselves. The Lord who speaks through them is.
As we learn to recognize Him within in the middle of life, fellowship becomes a heartbeat, not a special event. No condemnation when schedules squeeze the quiet hour. No fiction that we are dry if we missed a slot. We return to the present moment and acknowledge the Lord who never left. Communion is not a mood. Dennett calls it doing the right thing in the right moment in the right way. In our shared life together, that is not rule keeping. It is Jesus expressing His life through His people.
I am grateful for Nick Harrison’s curation here. He gathers voices that nudge us away from self-effort and back toward union. We are not trying to keep ourselves wet with spiritual activity. We are learning to trust the indwelling Spirit and to respond. This is the abiding life. Normal days. Real work. The Lord within.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am the Spirit of the Lord living in you. I keep you in fellowship with the Father and the Son. When your mind turns to tasks and traffic, I do not step away. I bear witness in your spirit that you belong to God. I remind you that there is no condemnation in the Anointed One. Your life is hidden with the Messiah in God, and I lead you to set your mind on things above even while your hands are busy below.
Walk in the light you have. Bring Me simple honesty. When you stumble, I point you to the cleansing already secured by the blood of Jesus. I steady your heart to confess and to receive. I strengthen your inner person so you present yourself to God as alive from the dead. I work in you to will and to do the Father’s good pleasure. I guide you to put on the whole armor of God, which is to stand in what He has provided and to stand firm.
I am your living water source within. The Scriptures are true and precious, and prayer is a gift. Through these, I unveil the Lord to you. Yet do not lean on the practices as if they were life themselves. Lean on the living One who meets you in them. As you continue in Him, rooted and built up, I cause thanksgiving to rise and love to move toward the person in front of you.
This is communion. Not a rare mood, but a steady sharing. I form Jesus in you. I season your words with grace. I stir you to reconcile quickly, to do good as you have opportunity, to work quietly with your hands, to walk wisely toward outsiders, to keep step with Me in the ordinary streets of your day.
Real-Life Analogy
Think of making a cup of pour-over coffee. You place the filter, pour a little water to let the grounds bloom, then keep a gentle, steady pour. The water moves through the grounds and becomes something rich. The pour is simple. The transformation comes from contact.
Abiding communion is like that. The Holy Spirit within keeps a steady flow of the life of Jesus through your ordinary moments, and what passes through you takes on His aroma. If there is a strained relationship on your calendar today, you might whisper, Lord, I trust You to let Your patience and truth pass through me in this conversation. Then walk into it gently. Listen without hurry. Speak plainly. Let the Lord express Himself while you keep the pour steady.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You for full forgiveness and honest fellowship in Your Son. Thank You that the Lord Jesus lives in me by the Holy Spirit. Thank You that my life is not held together by my routines, but by Your grace. I rejoice that communion is available in this very moment. I receive Your peace, Your wisdom already given in the Anointed One, and Your strength at work within me. Let the fragrance of Jesus move through my words, my work, and my quiet today. All glory to You.
