Living from Resurrection Power, Not the Past
Just as light flows from a power source, resurrection life flows from Jesus within us.

Today’s devotional from E. Stanley Jones reminds us that the power that raised Jesus from the dead is not simply a historical moment to admire. It is the very power at work in us now, lifting us into victorious living. Paul’s words in Ephesians point us toward this overwhelming truth: the same power that brought Jesus back to life and seated Him in heavenly authority is also working in every believer.
Jones invites us not to stand on the sidelines and marvel at the resurrection but to live from it. The cross was not a moment of defeat. It was the foundation for the greatest victory in history. And that victory is not reserved for theology books or religious holidays. It is the power by which we live, moment by moment, in union with the risen Jesus.
We do not follow a Savior stuck in the grave or frozen in a manger. We follow a victorious Lord, alive and reigning. His resurrection is not just proof of life after death but a present-day reality for all who believe. The past no longer holds sway over us. We are not walking toward resurrection life. We are walking in it.
This devotional calls us to a settled confidence. If Jesus lives in us, then His life is the source of power that energizes our daily walk. We are not trying to live the Christian life for Him. We are allowing His risen life to be lived through us, with the same victory that defeated death itself.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
You do not live by your own strength. You live by My resurrection life. I raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at My right hand. Now you are seated with Him. Your past is behind you. It has no voice of authority. The same power that brought Him out of the grave is at work in you now.
I am not calling you to imitate Jesus. I am calling you to trust that He lives in you. You are not facing your day alone. The living Christ abides in you. Let Him be your power, your wisdom, your joy. Do not walk as though you are waiting for something more. You already have Me. The victory has been won, and you are part of it.
You are not weak. You are not empty. You are filled with the very Spirit that raised Jesus. Yield. Trust. Rest. And live as one who knows where their life comes from. You are not stuck in your past. You are alive in Me.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of a surge protector plugged into a power source. The devices connected to it don’t need to generate their own electricity. They simply draw from what’s already flowing. That’s how the resurrection power of Jesus works in us. We are not the source. We are the receivers.
So today, if you're facing a decision, a temptation, or even a mundane task, don’t try to power through it on your own. Say with confidence, “Lord, I trust You to live Your risen life through me in this moment.” Whether you're stuck in traffic, sitting in a meeting, or feeling weary at home, draw from the power that has already conquered the grave. It is already yours.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I thank You that the very power that raised Jesus from the dead is now at work in me. I do not need to create energy or stir up resolve. I trust the risen life of Jesus to be my life today. You have taken me out of the grave and seated me in heavenly places. I live now, not as one trying to survive, but as one who already shares in Your triumph. I rest in Your finished work and draw confidently from Your endless supply.
