Living as Sons of the God of Peace

God’s peace changes the atmosphere of our lives, just as calm water reflects the morning light.

Today’s devotional from Witness Lee reminds us that peacemaking is not simply avoiding conflict, but living from the nature of God Himself. In contrast to Satan, who stirs rebellion, God is the God of peace, and those born of Him share His peaceful nature. When we live out this divine life, we naturally become peacemakers.

The devotional points to Jesus as the model. As the Son of God, He made peace between God and man, and also lived peaceably among people. In the same way, as sons of God, we are called to follow His example. Our peacemaking is not just good behavior or conflict resolution skills; it is the expression of the divine life within us.

When we operate from this life, peace flows out into our relationships. This is not passive or indifferent; it is an active choice to let the life of God in us quiet storms, reconcile differences, and remove barriers. Such living reflects our Father’s character and confirms our identity as His children.

To be called the sons of God is more than a title; it is a testimony. It means others see the resemblance between us and our Father. Just as children carry the likeness of their parents, so we, when we live as peacemakers, display the image of the God of peace to the world.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I am the God of peace, and My life in you is a life of peace. I have called you My child, not so you would live as the world does, stirring division, but so you would express My nature. Let My peace guard your heart and mind. Let it rule in your relationships, your home, your conversations, and your thoughts.

You are no longer a child of darkness. You belong to Me. As My Son, Jesus made peace through His blood, so you also live as My peacemaker. Do not repay evil for evil. Pursue peace with all people and holiness. In doing so, you make room for My presence to be seen.

When you yield to My Spirit, peace flows like a river through your life. This is not something you must manufacture; it is the fruit of abiding in Me. Walk in step with My Spirit, and My peace will mark you as Mine. This is your heritage as My son or daughter.

Real-Life Analogy

Think of a room where music is playing softly in the background. The melody changes the whole atmosphere without a single word being spoken. Conversations are calmer, tensions fade, and people relax. Peace works the same way. When you let the peace of God within you set the tone, it changes the atmosphere around you.

Today, when you encounter a tense conversation, a stubborn disagreement, or a moment of irritation, you can choose to let the music of God’s peace play through you. Yield to Him in that moment and say, “Lord, I trust You to express Your peace through me right now.” In that surrender, you will find His life guiding your words, your tone, and even your silence.

Prayer of Confidence

Lord, thank You that I share in Your peaceful life and nature. Thank You that I do not have to create peace out of my own effort, for You are my peace. I rejoice that Your Spirit works in me to quiet storms, heal divisions, and reconcile relationships. Today, I rest in the certainty that Your peace will guide my steps and flow through my words. I walk as Your child, confident that You will be seen in me.
